I picked up the Angelic Destroyer and Blade of :devil: Death in the Tomb of Souls and am trying to compare the 2 for use. I am a Level-39 War Witch (and having a blast) and I have the required skills to use either w/o penalty. My questions: 1.) Does my Diabolic Skill (LVL 9) benefit me when using the B of D, since it technically isn't magical? and 2.) Does the B of D allow me quicker attacks than the AD? Visually, the B of D is more fun to use since it seems like I'm attacking about twice as fast.

Since you are a War Witch I can deduce 2 things:

1. Your Diabolic skill is Drain Life, so no, the Blade of Death will not work with that skill, but the Angelic Destroyer will.

2. You have a 2nd Tier class that can use Heavy Pole Weapons.

I played a Mage/Adept/Enchantress/Battlemage/War Witch and I did not get heavy pole weapons (bad planning) so I couldn't use the Angelic Destroyer -- one of the better heavy pole weapons in the game.

I can't say whether the BoD is really faster, because for me I had too many penalties with the Ang. Dest. FYI though, I used the Kama of the Void with great effect (lots of damage, lots of strikes) and it worked with Drain Life very nicely..... but I had the most fun with Blast Nova, Fire Nova, Ice Nova, etc. because I was doing HUGE damage with those (Level 25 Arcane -- triple bonuses in that skill with my class combo).

Thanks XantharTheFlame. I went Fighter/Maurader/Rogue/Valkyrie/War Witch. Even foregoing the Drain Life bonus, I prefer my Blade of Death to the other weapons. It's more satifying to get a few quick 50+ damage swings in on a Chunneler (sp?) and chug a healing potion than to hit it with a magic weapon and drain its life. Having said that, I still have fond memories from my early days with my Winged Destroyer, acquried during my Valkyrie quest. That was my benefit of the pole weapon skill.

Maybe next go-round I'll try the magic route. Those Nova spells sound killer. The only offensive magic that I have used has been shards of stone, which always tilts the odds in my favor.
