Missing fists - possible 2.2 bug

I've got a slight problem, I have recently installed and patched the game to 2.2, however when I create a new character and visit Trip in his shop his goods list contains MY clothes.

That in itself is not a problem but if I sell any weapons I'm currently carrying (ie. baseball bat and tyre iron) then I don't seem to have the ability to hit anyone with my fists as they no longer exist :confused: I have 1 point in melee and 1 point in brawl by the time I visit Trip (this is prior to buying and selling any books ;) ).

Has anyone else had this problem and if so what is the cure?

I have not experienced this issue. I tried to do the same thing you did, and I still had my fists. You might try using the following command in the console:

give item_w_unarmed

I know you said one of your other posts you don't use the console, but you might want to consider turning it on for just such occasions as this.

Thanks for that info.

I got the console working and I was able to give myself a tyre_iron but the line give item_w_unarmed did nothing.

I did notice however that there are a lot of errors listed in the console when I load a saved game.

Do you think that maybe I need to do a re-install and re-patch?

You don't need to reinstall. Those errors aren't game stopping, they just have to do with objects in the game and their textures. I'm not sure if it's related to the unofficial patches or not, as I never really paid attention to what was going on in the console before I patched. Anyway, pay it no heed. Your gameplay won't be affected.

Thanks for the assist Anaximander.

I'll keep playing but it means that I don't have any unarmed fighting ahead of me :( , still, I do love the noise the baseball bat makes when it contacts skull bone :laugh:

Just FYI...

I noticed in the readme that they reccomend starting again as a previous saved game may become corrupt after the update.

I ended up deleting ALL my current chars to ensure the 2.3 patch didn't cause any wierd issues (I think 2.2 may be the cause of my previous problems).

My fists are fine and I still have my clothes when visiting Trip in the prawn shop :laugh:
