The size of your Mod Collection

Yesterday, upon realising that I had about three gigs worth of hard drive space left, and thus could not easily run a disc defrag, I decided to zip my mod "library" down to something more manageable. Before compressing, my mods folder was over 10 G! :speech: :o
Owing to the wonders of Winzip, it is now about half that. I know there are more effective zipping programmes out there, but for this I like using Winzip, because it is still easy to access the contents without unpacking the folder.

What about the rest of you? How many mods do you have stored (not just installed, but simply sitting there and doing nothing but taking up space) on your hard drive? :D

Zipped, roughly 3 GB. I keep copies of all of 'em in case I ever need to access anything for reinstallation, readmes, updating, etc.

Hey! It's my harddrive, I'll waste it on useless effluvia if I want! :D

I'm still a newbie when it comes to mods lol so I only have about 200mb of zipped mods in my mod folder on my pc at the moment. No doubt once I get the hang of mods and have played Morrowind a lot more this will increase a lot :) At the moment I still have only done the main quest and haven't done either expansion yet so I'm waiting til I have done those first before I start going overboard with the mods lol.

My mods folder is 6.28 GB, although not everything in there is compressed. The majority of the stuff is though. I probably need to do some weeding, there are some really crap mods in there that I haven't played since downloading.

That's the thing, isn't it? Weed, and backup what you like. If you don't, multiple versions sprout up, even the same version in downloads from different sites, and all sorts of things get mixed in that you wouldn't want to ever load again on your machine. I've also had a few of those.

Only the official mods, which I think makes up less than 100MB.

114 MB

I did the weeding and burning to disc some weeks ago as I needed to free up some hard drive space. It was 8 or 9 GB before I started, all compressed to various formats. It was hard work sorting through all the duplicates and awful mods I'll never use :speech:

My "problem" is that I can't just decide on the mods I'll use *before* I start a new game. I keep adding and removing mods, so I'm sure I'll download a mountain of mods to my hard drive in no time, half of them being the ones I just burned to disc :(

I think it's like 60 MB's, and 58 of that is Tamriel Rebuilt's Object of Tamriel *shrug*

It's not even built yet, is it?

Object's Of Tamriel is up for download to the public and finished, it's just a few int's and quest's were polishing off now.

Really, the pugins arent that big. Most of that is art files.

I don't understand what Objects of Tamriel is. Are those 3 files simply the platform needed to run Tamriel Rebuilt when it's released? And how long do you estimate it will be before a 1.0 release?

Basically, it adds all the new items into the game. The .esm's actually add, and the .tar.gz (double packed) are the art files.

Map 1 will be questable in a month. It should be a few months after that before an alpha.

However, we have a project for the Oblivion CS (besides Hammerfell) that was supposed to be released soon. However, we lost the entire landmass the other night. :( We still have the Heightmaps, and we're seeing how much we can save.

Right now, however, The continent is built (exterior). I have alpha's on my comp, and I can wander around at will. There are even NPC's on a few of the maps (http://tamriel-rebuilt.org/?p=modding_data/maps)

Our biggest challenges are the way they built the OoT, because older mods that were built on early OoT versions need to have a lot of things replaced. :( Also, we are working a way around a major bottleneck in reviewing.

However, with Oblivions tools, Hammerfell should go much faster than Morrowind.

Mine is just a the offical and a few others. I don't back them up as they come in through my memory stick, so they end up being deleted when I run out of space on it.
