New Beginnings (or going hippy :D)

For a while now I have been considering re-installing the game (yes, again :D ) and adding some difficulty enhancing mods. I am also thinking of creating a ranger type of character. So, this thread is a bit multifold.

This character will be a rustic, simple type. She'll live off the land, roam around, escort travellers through the wilderness and she'll have a preference for all things rustic.

Mods for inclusion

Knights of the Wild
(This Mod allows you to play 2 different ranger classes, (one for combat one for stealth), and a druid class. It also adds two birthsigns that correspond with with the classes.)

Blight Bounties (The Temple gives you bounties for the blighted animals you kill)

Vertical Limits (allows you to climb up cliffs)

Advanced Herbalism
(This mod makes 3 major changes to the game.

1.) In the tradition of all of the "Herbalism" mods, plant containers have been changed so that they are no longer "opened", like a chest. Instead, when you activate a plant, its ingredients (if any) are placed directly into your inventory. Then, the plant is deactivated (and disappears) until it is ready to be picked again.

2.) There is now a new skill called "Herbalism". This skill determines the player's ability to successfully pick plants and retrieve ingredients. At first, there is a good chance that plants will be harmed when you try to harvest them and provide no ingredients. After training and practicing in Herbalism for a while, not only will harvesting be more successful, but the plants themselves will become more productive. The player will have a chance to gain double or triple ingredients from a plant.

3.) There is a chance to find seeds in plants when you pick them. These seeds can be planted anywhere, and they will grow new plants that can then be harvested for ingredients (and occasionally new seeds). With a little patience, anyone can grow anything from a beautiful garden to a profitable plantation.
)

Carryable Raven (pet)

Scripted Spells (Lets you shapeshift)

Pet Wolf (Grumpy and Emma)

Animal Summoning Mod

Morrowind Creatures (unless it conflicts with Knights of the Wild)
(adds new creatures to Morrowind dire bears, dire wolves, hell hounds, and more. Also a new class & race, ranger, that can train animals and has an animal companion. )

Ranger Tent

Sabre Girl's Morrowind Ecology

Weather Effects (your character is impacted by storms and needs to shelter)

Backpack

NPC Schedules

Travelling Merchants

Dodge Enhanced

Galsiah's Character Development

Service Requirements

I am open to recommendations and suggestions but what I'd really like, are some thoughts on quest mods. For this type of character, the in-game fighter and religious factions work, at a stretch. Equally, I plan to seek out the escort missions. But what about quest/faction/landmass mods? Can anyone suggest mods that would compliment a ranger type of character. I'm not talking about mods that are specifically geared towards a ranger or druid, there don't seem to be any. Rather, just quest mods that would fit the spirit of the game I want to create.
Also, if anyone knows about conflicts regarding the above mods I mentioned, I'd appreciate a heads up :)

I've not used these so don't know what they are like:

Hunter modification - allowing you to learn how to hunt and gather more parts from creatures: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/V ... il&id=1380

Tales of the Bitter Coast - a few extra quests if you plan to just roam around exploring: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/V ... il&id=1581

Chu-Bran's Treasure - get a bottomless quiver as a reward, that allows you to make your own arrows:http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/V ... il&id=1049

Thank you very much! Those are exactly the types of mods I'm looking for

The Hunter Modification mod looks especially good!

You could also maybe use the pack donkey mod (http://lovkullen.net/Emma/Donkey.htm) if you are planning on roaming the countryside - it would add a traveller kind of feel to it (it could carry your tent and cooking stuff) :)

Also, this might interest you (its a list of mods that would suit ranger kind of characters): http://www.mwmythicmods.com/ranger.htm

Morrowind Crafting looks good for a character living the simple life and is compatible with the NoM mod: http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/V ... ail&id=486

In a similar vein to the quest mods you mentioned, I have also downloaded:

Tales of Tel Branora

Of Love and Ignorance

The Runaway

I only came across that donkey mod yesterday while looking for a decent companion mod to carry all my stuff - I've not got as a far as Suran yet so I haven't actually found out what they are like.

Have you thought about the Suran Archery House mod if you are planning on using bows etc.?

Also, have you tried Abots Water Life mod? (http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/V ... ail&id=258) .I'm using that one at the moment and its great, especially since you can actually catch fish now.

lol! Well Emma's mods tend to be excellent, so I'm not worried about the quality.

Yes, I have the Suran Archery House, along with several other Marksman-oriented mods, I think they are all on that Ranger/Rangeresque link you mentioned above. (though I've searched through so many pages and sites that I've lost track :o )

EDIT
Yes, Abot's is amazing! I especially recommend it used with clear water settings!

Another hunteresque mod that I posted in another thread

Way of the Hunter - it is Beta but fully playable (you might want to remove the new birthsigns using the construction set)

Thanks for the suggestion! It looks pretty good and I'd like to install it. The only problem is that will conflict with Sabre Girl's ecology mod because they both modify the wildlife AI. Cheers though

How in the Wide Wide World of Sports do you even consider this playing Morrowind anymore!?

You're making me have to consider getting Morrowind for the PC so I can use the mods. I must be missing out on a lot just playing on the XBox.

Mods add so much more to the game :) Without mods I found myself getting bored but with them the whole of Vardenfell just comes alive and its great.

lol! I agree with Mr.Sir ;)
On its own Morrowind is a solid RPG. But...with the addition of mods (depending on the quality of those you add) it becomes an outstanding game.

The XBox combat controls are more fun..... but *grins* I prefer the PC version, just for the mods alone. I'd seriously recommend picking up the GOTY edition for PC, it's pretty cheap these days ;)

Yep, and thanks to a handy little invention called an Xbox 360 controller, the controll "problem" can be fixed through $20 and a USB port. :D

Arrow Quests. "Jhaela the Fletcher will make 5 new kinds of enchanted arrows when you bring her various ingredients. Each quest can be done over and over." I've got this one installed myself, though I haven't used it, yet. I plan to have my character take up archery late in the game.

Sounds like a good one for a ranger, too.

Cheers Fable!
I may well install that.

btw, Have you tried "Travelling Merchants?" It's *really* good, at least so far. It's nice to encounter them while travelling along the road, makes the game feel a lot more alive. Since "Morrowind Comes Alive" would be far too much for my present system setup, this is a great alternative.

Dragon_Wench how did you get hold of the Carryable Raven mod. I went to download it the other day (using the link from mythic mods) and the download page has disappeared? Do you know of any other site where it can be found?

I downloaded it directly from Kagz mods (I had to register), but it is also on this page at Elric Melniborne's site.
