Ok, I killed D. Ur and am heading to Mournhold, but before I go I thought I would free all the slaves and kill all the vampires and wipe out all the 6th house bases...

so... is this a futile quest? do the vampire lairs always repopulate?
is there any way to permanently shut down any 6th house bases?

p.s. any way to free the vampire cattle? (they are not impressed with my 'skeleton key')

Cattle can not be released. Blood Vampires do not respawn as they are npcs, as for ash vampires I think a few of them are on levelled lists and will therefore respawn.
