I've just closed the oblivion gate at skingrad but no-one cares. Everyone you speak to is still worried about the oblivion gate outside and the count won't help you any further in the allies for bruma quest until his gate is closed. What can I do? is this a glitch?? I also can't find the guy in skingrad to buy the house from.he's just disapeared of the face of the planet too! can anyone help?

Did you close the right gate? Sometimes there is more than one close to the city.

Very true (above). Sometimes you'll find that one Oblivion gate leads to a plane that has two gates. In other words, if you close one, you'll close any other gate leading to that plane. Worked that way for me anyway. Usually if this occurs, the other gate will lead you to a long way across the map. You will often find multiple gates REALLY CLOSE to one-another, but they won't lead to the same plane. (Good Example: Leywinn (sp?))

Be patient. In Skingrad I have closed THREE false Oblivion gates before I found the right one

Just remember to speak to the city ruler BEFORE attempting to close the Gate(s). Then, with any luck, you will only find ONE to close. Sometimes you are told where it is, which helps. And, iirc, your pointer should locate the correct one after you have spoken to the ruler.

Also, AFAIK, the real one is the only one patrolled by guards, but that probably doesn't happen until after you've talked to the ruler, either.
