Char optimizing: an other approach

As some of you might already have guessed, im working on the „perfect“ charakter – meaning solving every quest to the maximum amount of exp while getting the most skills out of books, quests.... and would really appreciate all the help i can get.

As the „answer the questions“ start told me: i should be a ventrue. So I started with the following attributes:

Str1 Cha3 Per2
Dex1 Man1 Int1
Sta1 App1 Wit1

Bra1 Fir0 Com0
Dod0 Mel1 Fin0
Int0 Sec0 Inv1
Sub1 Ste0 Sch2

Taking the quests and books WITHOUT research requirements higher than I have here this would lead to:

Brawl 2 taught by Nines if dialogue is triggered in Last Round
Brawl 2-3 or 3-4 book located in Russian Mafia penthouse level
Computer 0-1 Pawn shop book (multiple copies available)
Computer 1-2 Pawn shop book (multiple copies available)
Computer 3 taught by Bertram Tung
Dodge 0-1 or 1-2 book located in Grout Mansion
Firearms 0-1 Pawn shop book (multiple copies available)
Firearms 1-2 Pawn shop book (multiple copies available)
Firearms 2-3 taught by Romero in the cemetary
Melee (any) taught by Nines before Grout mission if dialogue triggered
Melee 2-3 or 3-4 book located in Skyline apt (#4?)
Stealth 0-1 or 1-2 book located in room across from Santa Monica haven (its hidden by the stove)

BECKETT:
3 Scholarship

Str1 Cha3 Per2
Dex1 Man1 Int1
Sta1 App1 Wit1

Bra4 Fir3 Com3
Dod2 Mel4 Fin0
Int0 Sec0 Inv1
Sub1 Ste2 Sch3

Not bad at all, (for having spent ZERO exp!!!) but it leaves the following not uses or not used to optimum:
Computer 4-5 Book in Ground 0 internet cafe (note: requires research 9)
Dodge 4-5 book located in Giovanni library
Firearms 4-5 book located in Society of Leopold monastery (Note: Research TEN needed)
Finance 2-3 or 3-4 book located in Jezebel's room (plague quest, research 6)
Finance (any) is taught by Fat Larry if you persuade him to cut you a price break
Melee (any) taught by Nines before Grout mission if dialogue triggered
Melee 4-5 book in Fu Syndicate (behind a 10 lock door, research 9 needed)
Security 2-3 or 3-4 book in Museum (research 7)

BECKETT:
+any scholarship, if research is over 5

So: how would YOU spend your exp to get the most of it?

BTW: The credits for the tips where to find wich book dont belong to me! I just copied them and hope, that whoever did the job finding all this is ok with me using his work.

I did exactly this a while back. Ventrue and everything. I wish I still had the final save game for that character so I could post a screenshot of his stats. He was truly my Bloodlines masterpiece. Best character I ever built.

My research was at 8 by the end of the game (5 scholarship for persuasion bonus, 3 int). Here are the stats I used manuals for and how I raised them:

Brawl: 1 starting point, Nines dialogue, book, book (4 pts)
Melee: xp, xp, book, book, Nines dialogue (5 pts)
Finance: xp, xp, book, book, Fat Larry (5 pts)
Dodge: book, book, xp, xp (4 pts)
Firearms: book, book, Romero dialogue, xp (4 pts)
Computers: book, book, xp, Mitnik quest reward, Bertrum quest reward (5 pts)
Stealth: book, book, xp, xp (4 pts)
Security: 1 starting point, xp, book, book, Skyline Apartment occult item (5 pts)

Note: The two points in computer skill from quest rewards and the Skyline occult item are available only with unofficial patches installed. Where I have a book listed twice, I used the same book two times by selling it to a vendor and buying it back.

The only other free point I got from dialogue that I can remember is one in
scholarship from Beckett right before the society of Leopold.

I pretty much follow this format with every character I make now. Occasionally I'll let one of those stats go if I don't feel it is in character for what I'm playing at the time. My Gangrel, for example, doesn't bother with melee or firearms. It's claws or nothing.

With that particular Ventrue build, I ended up with 5 points in all three Disciplines along with 4 points in stamina and, as mentioned above, 4 in dodge. With body armor, Presence, and Fortitude his defense was amazing. During the blood hunt, he strolled through Santa Monica like he owned the place and literally took 0 damage. Or rather, regenerated his health faster than enemies could take it down.

Let's see... he also ended up with persuasion 9 (5 scholarship, 4 charisma) for the Giovani mansion. I put 2 points into dex to combine with security and stealth and increase my lockpicking and sneaking feats. I put 1 point into perception at creation and I believe I added 2 more with xp later for a total ranged feat of 8.

That's about all I can remember of that character, other than that I really loved that particular build. Now I wish I hadn't deleted his final save.

EDIT: I need to correct myself. Nosferatu characters have always been able to get a free point in Computers from Bertrum Tung. The unofficial patches allow characters of any clan to do this quest.

Well, if i ever get to finish the game i will give a pretty detailed charakter-history, so we could eliminate any existing flaws (I hope there aren't many) and to save other beginners the calculating I did the last days...

Thx for showing me, what skills are possible to reach. This really is some inspiration...
