Invisibility or Chameleon?

I know the differences between the two spells, but i have 2 questions.
one is can you see enchantments through chameleon like you can invisibility, and the other is is one better than the other at concealing you.
I dont know if this means anything but it costs more to enchant something with chameleon than invisbility...?

Neither has ever worked very well for me. I go with stealth and hope for the best!

If you want to simply move around without interacting with the game world then Invisibility is the better spell.
However, if you want to be able to attack foes or unlock things while remaining unseen Chameleon is the better alternative.
I generally combine Chameleon with Sneak.

I prefer invisibility enchantments simply because there are already 2 items in the game that can offer excellent chameleon abilities for a short time (when combined) and I only use chameleon when I want to steal something. I like constant effect invisibility rings/amulets as you can just put these on when travelling and you can travel in peace (just remember to re-equip after interacting with anything as you will lose invisibility).
Chameleon is probably the more useful spell as it helps protect you from being hit etc. too due to being harder to see and does not disappear when you interact with something (hence why it probably costs more as an enchantment as it is more versatile), but I find invisibility suits my style of play more.

I prefer Chameleon as well. I always get my invisibility blown at the crcial part because my character is clumsy.

Can i stack CE Chameleon, and have two items (just an example) that each have 50% chameleon and it work like 100%, if so is there a limit to how many items i can have the enchantment on?

As far as I know, stacking is allowed as this is the case with other effects such as fortify strength etc. and I don't think there are any limits on how many items can be enchanted, as long as you have enough items, gold and filled soul gems to create them.

I'm pro chameleon. With invisability you tend to have to recast it constantly for attacking, talking, casting, opening, etc. It becomes a pain after a while.

for one of my first enchants i usually get a extravagant or exquisite amulet and enchant it with chameleon 100% for as long as i can. it ends up being endlessly useful, even with only around 10 seconds at a time. its plenty of time to swipe something or open a lock(once i picked a lock usin that inside a bar or sumthin like that in balmora. i ended up with a bounty of 5 on my head but nobody attacked. i picked the lock and everyone said different threatening things, but none of them attacked. kinda weird)

They're useful in different circumstances. Invisibility can get you past things you'd rather not face, and it's great for getting the drop on a foe that can't sense you any other way. Chameleon is rather like a dose of extra Luck or Agility in some respects, since it prevents your being hit in battle. Note, though, that there are mods which allow enemy spellcasters to actually cast intelligently, in which case they'll dispel Chameleon (since even 100% can be seen) at once.

I prefer Chameleon because it doesn't dissapear everytime you want do take some kind of action. If you could get 100% Chameleon at constant effect you will be the best of the best

So 100% chameleon doesn't make you invisible? So it doesn't help with sneaking? Or does it do that as well as stopping you from being hit?

It's been my experience that 100% chameleon does not mean you go unnoticed. It means you're very, very difficult to hit. I've always been noticed when stealing something with 100% chameleon, and everybody acknowledges my presence. On the other hand, if I'm invisible, many NPCs won't notice me. Usually the only ones who will are those who employ other senses heightened hearing, smell, magical).
Note that you still can be hit, even with 100% chameleon. It's just very difficult. An NPC who takes a strong Fortify Luck potion can and will hit you, and there are ways around the spell, in any case: area effects (fireballs, shockballs, etc), dispel spells, etc.

Methinks your wrong, most of you. 100% Chameleon is equal to invisibility in my experience, and it does nothing to stop them from hitting you, Sanctuary is the spell that makes you harder to hit.
And Id go or cham.

With 100% Chameleon you are very hard to see but you are not invisible. You can still be spotted by someone looking in your direction if you interact with something (such as steal something), and they can then see you enough to attack you.

I enchanted an entire set of armour with CE chameleon to 100%, and if you sneak with decent skill (id say 70 or better) you you can stand right in front of someone and steal and not get caught, chameleon usually gives you the upperhand in battle also.
thanks for all the feedback
