What does 'Detect Illusion' actually do? I have 150 skill points in this for Jan, expecting that it would dispense with the need to cast True Sight and Detect Invisibility, but I have never had any effect whatsoever from this skill during combat. The most it ever did was expose a couple of mimics. Should I be doing something to activate it, or is this just not a useful skill?

You have to activate find traps, and keep it active for about 6 seconds. With 100 in the skill you will always remove invisibility, project image, mirror image etc.

As Rav said, the way to use detect illusion is to activate it exactly like detecting traps. Although instead of just detecting traps a person can detect illusions at the same time.

Aha, thankyou. Sadly not too useful for Jan then, as he can cast True Sight anyway, but good to know.

It is a cheap means to dispell illusions if you can spare the time :)

Also - Jan uses this ability "passive" once through the game, which I'll not spoil to much but it is in reference to the Trademeet quest, which was quite fun when I had that happen.

Jan would be able to use this skill an unlimited amount of times during the day without resting, not to mention this can free up numerous spell slots on various characters.

Don't underestimate it, I think it's invaluable.

Yes, it is excellent. A paladin's ability is limited by number, but not Jan's. He's a little ball of surprises in several ways, isn't he? And those manufactured ranged attacks of his can even cut through some powerful defenses on occasino.

I wonder, though, just how powerful his Detect Illusion can get if you train it properly?

@Fable: I havent noticed changes after we reach 100 points. I played the game a few times with an F/M/T and I'd avoid memorizing those spells for the worst combats (when not soloing, cause at a solo game it is better to actually cast true sight and let the spell do the work for you). The range is sight range (it seems so), and it works really well, and you have also the advantage to be able to move the character around while he's searching for ilusions.
