I am clueless. I have read several walkthroughs (including the one here on GB) and I still can't figure it out. I go to the southwest corner of the room. I choose the third level. I go to the different levers in the other part of the room and choose "Rank 1." Then nothing happens. I go to the checkerboard in the center of the room where the ice golem is standing there but nothing happens when I do that either. I try to go into the next room, which I think is supposed to be the game room, but it won't let me enter this room. It just tells me, "There's a sign on the door which tells you this is Oria's Game Room."

What is supposed to happen? Am I supposed to be teleported to this room? How do I get into the room so I can start the procedure? Please help.

First, you are in the game room. The room with the 3X3 grid is the game room.

The levers along the north of the room are for choosing which rank you want to play. You should start with rank 1, so flip the lever nearest the door, to choose rank 1.

Now pick which character you want to use for the challenge. Notice the 3 levers in the southwest corner of the room. I'm not sure I remember the exact order in which to use these levers, but try flipping the top, then middle, then the bottom lever. Your party, except for your selected character, will be transported out of the room. Walk your character over to the grid, and click on a square to start battle. When you complete a level, your party will come back into the room.

You must complete 5 levels for every rank, to complete the rank. I can explain this in more detail if you want.
