I have Imoen in my party and after she had been killed once I raised her and travelled to another area. However, I soon found out that somehow I had forgot to pick up her equipment (really stupid of me, I know). I went back, but the only thing that was left where she had died was a part of Irenicus Journal (from the Asylum, I have no idea why I didn't thow it away earlier). She was carrying some nice things that I want back inlcuding the Ring of Invisibility, Sword of Backstabbing (well that one doesn't really matter, I have the Cuttthroat now) and Necaradans Crossbow.
Anyway, this isn't the only strange thing that happened: a lot of my other equipment has dissapeared too, even my familiar (which was in my backpack). It isn't dead, I've tried to summon a new one, but it says I already have one summoned.
So, anyone have a clue to what happened? Is it a bug?

This is a bug. Though somtimes the areas that load when you return to them use completely new settings when you return, thus no longer includes the flags for dropped items. Safe to say that one should not drop anything in a world where greedy adventurers like ourself are out "trolling".

I recommend using the shadowkepeer to get you back your familiar since this utility has proven very reliable and bugfree.

yo same shit happend to me man
my familiar was just gone and Im like, what the hell, I never noticed he was away, I put him in my pack and when I checked a hours later

not there. Yeah and then when I was walking around in the underdark I find the equalizer blade, and I had all this other stuff that Id need to forge. But then after travellin some when I checked again, not there. And I mean these things werent magic, so nishruu couldnt eat em, and I didnt even fight a mage between the loads. So definetly something wrong there, my main guy had the stuff and I never dies with him (obviously) in the process. So I duno
where can I get this Trainer
