Hello, I just finished the Twisted Ruins, and Jaheira and Minsc both got caught in the spell petrification. Then, they both died... is there anyway the save them, or are they dead forever? Im in normal mode, which i believe is where no character is dead forever.

I don't believe that is what normal mode does. You can reverse the spell if you cast stone to flesh. As long as their mini-portrait on the right is still there, you can revive your members in other situations with "Raise Dead" or other spells/scrolls.

I tried the Twisted Ruins again, but this time the vampire person lvl drained Jaheira to death, and her picture is not on the side anymore, in this case, is she dead forever? Is there anyway I can cheat my way, to get her back?

When someone gets petrified,he/she is removed from the party(portrait will disappear). If that NPC is then smashed into pieces,he/she will die permanently.I believe that if an NPC dies and his/her portrait is removed, there won't be a way to revive him thus making him forever dead Image

That is kinda odd. The description for normal mode does indeed state that none of your NPCs can permanently die. I think this only refers to spells that normally wouldn't allow resurrection. Being petrified and then shattered apparently is an exception. Image

If a character gets level drained and died because he/she is at level 0,doesn't this mean that the person is permanently dead?

In normal mode, an NPC can still permanently die if, when they are killed, they are blown to bitty pieces. There are a number of ways this can happen. Certain spells do it (disintegrate, death spell). In melee combat, if an enemy's killing strike does enough damage to send you into extreme negative hit point (don't know the actual number...seems to be around -10), then you get chopped up into chunks and cannot be revived. (Incidentally, this is why some enemies you kill fall to the ground as dead bodies while others seem to explode--it's all about how much damage you did with your killing strike.)

Rule of thumb is this: if the portrait still appears but is black-and-white, they can be resurrected. If the portrait disappears, they're gone for good.
