Light Pole Speed vs. Lgt/Med/Hvy Weapon Speed

Light Pole Arms (and I'm guessing Heavy Pole Arms too) seem to have a longer animation time to complete it's attacks than Lgt/Med/Hvy Weapons. The 7" doesn't seem worth it if it takes longer to finish the attack move(s).
Are there any polearm fans here to explain what I might be missing?

True it takes longer 2 complete both light and heavy poles attacks..It real depends on how u fight and class u choice..
The staight foward attack is not that powerful..However if u move ur charc side 2 side while swingin it has a real powerful compenation (think stronger then the sword compenation) .I for one don t real use the straight forward attacks wth both pole and mele exept at the beginin when my parry and speed is low.... When u move side 2 side ull hit not just one monster at a time ull be hittin at least 4 or 5 at a time ....( if u can hit 4 or 5 monster right be4 the final 2 compenations well lets just say ull be doin a lot of damage)...Parry and speed important when u make this move...And if ur usin a pole wth a long reach the bettter...
Treat life good
So life can treat u good

Well i'm not a pole arm fan but if you increase your agility you will attack faster and have faster movement speed. My friend has a pole arm and his agility is around 55-70. Try boosting up your agility and most probably you will have no trouble attacking.

Well to diamond thats true with the polearms except when your facing 4 or 5 guys you have to remember you are surrounded seems to be a default in the game and if you are hit one time in mid-swing you usually end up losing the combination hits as well as extra damage from the extra hits

pole vs. reg wep
i prefer a regular wepon to a pole wepon because of the increase in speed and for the wepon bonus's most of the time. i think the animation for poles slow the attack speed down way too much to be useful in the later parts of the game or against groups of enemies. also you cannot duel wield a polearm i think if a person could i might be interested in them just for novelty use.
