I've just reached the final battle against Mephistopheles [hotu] and it seems ridiculous
so far I've completed the game as easy as opening a solitaire [that's on normal level]...all the opponenets were pathetic...I used like two heal potions alltogether and all of a sudden an opponent which won't let me drink two heals in a row how quickly the damage is being dealt...that's some disasterous game difficulty planning...beating this guy is pure luck...it seems I just have to try like 100 times and once it'll work...don't think it's a proper ending for otherwise excellent game

I found him to be easy, as long as I didn't try with my wizard (which at that time didn't have any acid spells )

Did you bring any companions?

Big M. can indeed be very very hard, lest ones character is somewhat prepared for him, and I also think he is disproportional hard for "new" players who didn't know about him. (Such as acid being the best damage type against him).

The only advice I can give you is to try and buff you and your compansions if possible, up all that you can.

of course I brought companions had all the buffs I could cast on the party...I have Nathyrra, Deeken, summoned elder air elemental, summoned panter [from ranger lvl 9]...I myself am an ranger 9, wizard 1, arcane archer 17...Nathyrra dies on me pretty quickly, Meph just ignores elementals and summoned animals [yes Deeken sometimes summones a useless dire wolf] and after 50 heals I got him Badly Wounded and I'm all out of potions...don't see what else is there but to try again with 100 potions...maybe arcane archer just isn't class strong enough for Meph [my ranger lvl gives me good two weapon fighting technique and decent damage and I DO have one acid sword so I'm using that instead of a bow]
P.S. got him finaly after 4 resurrections of party members and some more summoned creatures...and only used 45 heals ))

To me he was no problem (using a level 28ish Cleric). I used one heal potion and no heal spells the whole fight. My Secret? 6 Storms Of Vengeance He got owned pretty badly.

As an arcane archer I also struggled with him, but if you stock up on loads of acid bombs/flasks and scrolls/wands of spells that do acid damage plus enhance your bow with the acid damage effect it makes life a lot easier. Just don't let him get too close to you and if he does or if he teleports you back to him, run away again. Keep using ranged attacks and healing where necessary and you'll get there in the end. When he summons his elementals, use the arcane archer special attacks to take them out pretty quickly.

I encountered him twice (that is I played the expansion twice) and the first time I had my Druid / Shifter and I don't remember well but I guess I died pretty fast cause then I did the "other thing" that you can do to get rid of him without fighting.

The second time however I was determined to defeat him in combat and I had my Rogue / Shadowdancer and I had Vaelen and Deaken with me. This fight was pretty easy I have to say. I used Vaelen as a tank and kept ressurecting him when he died (he is very strong by the way) and I myself kept poking the demon from time to time with my short sword. Deakon was pretty useless I guess! lol

I used one Destruction on him

I used a RDD with a ring of cold immunity. It wasn't even fair- I didn't even bother using a potion at all.

Have you thought about using the demonic hand to head to higher ground?
