Silly reputation question...

OK - here is a silly question - BG II is my first game in the series and I am still getting the hang of it...

What causes repurarion to go up/down? My reputatioon has fallen from 12 to 7 pretty fast, and I can't see why. I have only fought when attacked, and so far have only done what seem like "good" quests.

I realize this may be covered in detail elsewhere - please point me there if you can...

Thanks in advance!!!

You lose 5 points if you attack a defensless hostile. Watch you party when you have AI turned on. I killed the guy at the front desk in Maevar's guild hall and it knocked me down by 5. Just check the table in the back of your guide and go tithe the appropriate amounts at a temple to get you rep back up. Don't worry you will end up like me having too high of a rep before too long. No Viconia is all pissed because Im at 19.

I killed the gut behind the counter at Mae'vars uild hall and didnt loose any rep from that.

If ya want to pump up ya rep though i suggest that you go to a temple and donate some money, the exact amount is in the manual

Good luck anyway

Be careful with what spells you cast when non hostile people are around. I casted sunfire one time when I was being attacked by thugs and it killed 3 or 4 commoners in the surrounding area. Needless to say I loaded game.
