Plots for the next BG, or an expansion!!

Personally, I think it would be great if in the next BG, they added a wider space to explore and some more plots.
We have a lot of small sidequests that take you other places, etc., but there really is only one plot that you have to follow all the way through.
What would be great is to develop a game so dynamic that the actual ending could be completely different depending on your choices (say 4 possible endings or less...otherwise it gets complicated for the boys at Bioware, or whoever is developing the next one).
The trick would be making it able to keep going after that game. Know what I mean, the problem would be if there was another game, where does the plot start?
My main thing is that I wish more aspects of Faerun (the continent we're on in BG games) were included. You can get little snippits of this in the books in the game, or in any of the books that you can buy in RL. I happen to have read a few, and also played some Forgotten Realms, pen and paper style.
I want to see some adventures into Zhentarim Keep and Myth Drannor. Give me some encounters with Khelben "Blackstaff" Arunsun. Let me travel all the way from Amn to the Spine of the World, way up north.
I know it seems like a lot, but a game of this magnitude would be so incredible I would probably play it 20 or 30 times through.
Some of my hope lies in Neverwinter Nights...and I'll be able to include almost anything I want. Hopefully my designed games treat my networked friends well!

In spite of the nature of the other thread, I'd be happy to play your designs in Neverwinter Nights. One of the things I'd like to see in BGII is more of the non-linearity that you talk about. Four main plot possibilities would be great. But, I say, if you do one of the other endings, you should have to play the game through again to see what's different. It would take a lot of programming magic, but the BG engine is a developed product now, and they could put most of their resources for a new game into plot development and story line. It would sell a whole new set of $50 games. Plus, if you allowed people to continue after completing one of the main story-lines, the other ones would inevitably be too easy for your powerful characters.

And one more thing...
Did you ever read Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card? Some day I look forward to the RPG that adjusts the game to the player's personality and skill (it learns as you go along).

Nope, haven't read that one...sorry...
What I meant by playing other games is like the ability we had in BG1 to import into BG2, although by that time, the guys will be too powerful to play.
Mostly, Id like the idea of the plot continuing. For example, if you beat BG3 with any of the 4 possible endings, the plot could pick up there in the next one, simply choose which ending you ended with.
I would think by the time BG3 came out, you would need a new character, since by that time, the characters would be level 20 something, but the plot could definately continue....

I think most 'expansions' would be more on the lines of 'Tales of the Sword Coast'. Spine of the World? 'Icewind Dale'(TM) and it's up coming sequel (same engine as BG).
BG III....
'You awake in a dark cloister of webs and rags. Your memory a blank a dull ache throbs at the side of your head. You can barely make out a lump in the darkness near you and as you tentatively reach out it stirs and moans. You recognize that murmmer as Jaheira..... and your journey to Thethir begins........'

Black Isle will maybe not be able to make anymore Dungeons and Dragon games

Well, there goes more 'IceWind Dale'(tm) but Bioware still owns the engine and is the developer for the BG games (Interplay/Black Isle was only the distributor). So they could possibly keep producing.... Anyone been to Bioware's site recently?

NOT THAT AGAIN,
well do you think that inforgames(french) is stupid or what????
to make a new game they will need 2 years just for the engine, and about mechwarriors games it´s from Hasbro and micropose is doing them, they (if smart) are going to leave thing the way they are, because if its a floper (like outcast)...they lose money, besides they are not know for making a lot of games and STILL have cash...they have hasbro but not only for the licences sake.

I would agree they would be crazy.(Companies have done this and worst though)
As for the original ? I would love for there to be branches to choose from. But I believe it would be a nightmare to add an expansion to it. Maybe someday.

I say we hire some assassins to go take out Infogamers. How about Gruntboy and Ubik? They seem to be an evil enough sort

I'll do *anything* for money. Well, almost.
Especially if it involves murder and double-dealing.
The scum, we'll put an end to their plans...

you said about multiple endings? silent hill (playstation) has that. it certainly adds to the games lifespan. there's actually a point in playing it over and over again.

Ahem... err... magusg, I think that you and I shall go into a partnership. Fee is 2000 EURO per head plus expences - and that is a friendly prize, since I wanna sack the bleeding arses myself (NO FURTHER D&D CRPGs BY B.I.???? THAT MAKES ME MAAAAAAAD!!!)
But, hey, there are plenty of quality settings out there and with an improved infinity engine, allmost ANYTHING could come to a glorious life (glorious also in terms of money making for the developer/distributor)
A question to the guys who have PnP RPG experience: The best settings-worlds to come alive with the Infinity Engine (or a modified clone of it in the future)?????

Ravenloft would be sweet... but as I've stated a few other times, TSR put out alot of great Spelljamming material... Let's get a game going in space!

after reading the linked article... did you mean best non-TSR published worlds/campaigns?
>
As far as a rich adventuring environ... There is a pnp RPG made in the world of Melnibone'(Michael Moor****, author)... I believe White Wolf published it. I loved the Elric books, and there is much more of a chaos/law conflict going on than good/evil.
