Fable Problem: Really Need Help!

I heard how great this game was from friends and game review sites, so I just got the game.

However there is a big problem. After installing the game, watch the game trailer (which is damn cool), change the settings, and press start, the game just pop back out to the Windows desktop.

I've tried going to the microsoft.com site for help and tried all the 14 steps to make the game work and it still pops me out to the desktop whenever I click "Continue Game - Name" on the Fable:TLC menu.

I've even downloaded the latest DirectX, latest drivers for my graphic and sound card.

Can anyone help me here cos' I really want to try out this game>

Thank you.

Hi, welcome to the forums, xXx. :)

About your problem, I'm not as to how to solve that problem but have you tried skipping the intro trailer? It might help. Also try to reinstall the game to see whether it will work or not. One more thing, could you post your system requirements? It will help in trying to narrow down the problem.

The specs you submitted is good enough to run the game. I might suggest trying to lower your sound acceleration at the DirectX menu to see if it helps. Other than that, I can't think of any other solutions here. Sorry. :( Perhaps you could try Lionhead's forum to see if they have any solution for your problem.

I had a similar problem when I first started playing on the PC and what fixed it for me was to turn off the hardware acceleration for the sound (as DesR mentioned above).

Start Menu >> Run >> dxdiag >> DirectX tab
Pull the slider for sound acceleration all the way to the left to diable it.

Try running Fable, if it still has the same problem then the sound acceleration isn't the problem.

The odd thing is that this crashing problem never occured to me when I played Fable: TLC on my computer. I didn't need to fiddle with the DirectX settings or even the Nvidia driver settings at all. This type of problem only happens to me for some select games. As for turning off the hardware acceleration, just take note that you might experience stuttering sounds when playing the game. Happened to me when I've played Hitman: Blood Money with that configuration.

I never had this problems to.. Where i did had to deal with where some graphic issues.. mostly it pops Back to desktop ( or at some PC's the monitor will go on standby, also sometimes the sound disapears ) is becouse ur system is secured for damaging ur hardware... Try to do what was mentioned above.. also ur hardware accelaration could B a problem...
U could also try to use various screen settings or sound settings...

Not everybody owns an Xbox and if you already have a PC then buying an Xbox just to play Fable is a bit exteme IMO. Its a good game but not good enough to make me buy a console just to play it.
