Sharn gro-Muzgob' Chest (spoilers)

I'm playing as a Necromancer and I'm trying to steal Sharn's necromancy book from her chest. The problem is I can't manage it without setting the whole Balmora Mage Guild on me. I've tried chameleon, unlocking from a distance, telekinesis. Anyone have any suggestions or strategies that worked for them?

Stole it, recalled to the Thieves Guild, paid to fix my fine, and that was that.

I'm not in the thieves guild, but I guess I could try a similar thing and teleport next to a guard and pay the fine

If you do that, drop the item first, otherwise it might be confiscated as 'stolen items' (as will all other stolen items). And with the thieves guild, you get it half price.

Yeah I know I'd get it half price in the thieves guild but I don't want to join it.
I'd forgotton about the confiscating though so thanks
