The Ruins of My Life - Sonata Arctica

The Land was then young, I was fighting for it like everyone
Ready to die for the cause, for my King, for my Lord

You were my reason to live, to fight another day
You were the only one for me, and you were only for me

Another year I would be gone
The war was leading us so far apart
I built a house to keep you there
Waiting for me, waiting…

No-one remembers my face nor my name
In a dream, I´d stay here forever
Headstone on my grave, words carved in vain
All these wounds only heal when I´m home

The Taste of their blood in my mouth, and the scent of victory
Scarred my soul for life, This man was not me

Love is a game for the weak to play, they said
I loved and love made me many times stronger

Another year I would be gone
The war was leading us so far apart
I built a house to keep you there
Waiting for me, waiting…

No-one remembers my face nor my name
In a dream, I´d stay here forever
Headstone on my grave, words carved in vain
All these wounds only heal when I´m home

Everything ends...everything dies...
Now I know the Legends only lived in his lies.”

My Long and winding road, river and trees by the hills we lived on
The ruins of my life I find, a signetring on the ashes,
I know my Lord betrayed me, my reason to live was taken away
I carry my loved one to the hills we loved, for the last time…

I close your eyes, kiss you goodbye
The only one who ever loved me
I´m crushed inside, darling, my life…
It shall end here…

Headstone on your grave, words carved in vain
Now the darkness covers me…

Another Sonata fan I see. :D
Alkaline Trio - Mercy me

It's been a long day living with this
It's been a long time since I felt so sick
I took a long walk straight back home
I could've walked back to San Francisco
I used to long for time alone
I used to long for a place of my own
But I'm losing faith in everything
I'm lost, so lost, I'm lost at sea, you see

I used to long for broken bones
I used to long for a casket to call my own
I never had a problem facing fear
But I'm done, over and done my dear and

Oh mercy me
God bless catastrophe
Well there's no way in hell
We'll ever live to see through this so
Drive your self insane tonight
It's not that far away and I just
filled up your tank earlier today
(Yeah!)

It's been a long day living with this
It's been a long time since I felt so sick
I took a long walk straight back home
I could've walked back to Chicago
I used to long for time alone
I used to long for a place of my own
And I've lost faith in everything
I'm lost, so lost, I'm lost without you

Oh mercy me
God bless catastrophe
There's no way in hell
We'll ever live to see through this so
Drive yourself insane tonight
It's not that far away and I just
filled up your tank earlier today
(Yeah!)

So drive yourself insane tonight
It's not that far away and I just
filled up your tank earlier today
(Yeah!)

Prince - Purple Rain
Keep an eye out for the video to this one as well, one of my all time favourites.

I never meant to cause you any sorrow
I never meant to cause you any pain
I only wanted one time to see you laughing
I only want to see you laughing in the Purple Rain

Purple Rain, Purple Rain
Purple Rain, Purple Rain
Purple Rain, Purple Rain

I only want to see you bathing in the Purple Rain

I never wanted to be your weekend lover
I only wanted to be some kind of friend
Baby I could never steal you from another
It's such a shame our friendship had to end

Purple Rain, Purple Rain
Purple Rain, Purple Rain
Purple Rain, Purple Rain

I only want to see you underneath the Purple Rain

Honey, I know, I know, I know times are changing
It's time we all reach out for something new, that means you too
You say you want a leader, but you can't seem to make up your mind
I think you better close it and let me guide you into the Purple Rain

Purple Rain, Purple Rain
Purple Rain, Purple Rain
Purple Rain, Purple Rain

Only want to see you... only want to see you in the Purple Rain

Bone Thugs N Harmony - Ghetto Cowboy Lyrics
You betta count your money (Repeat 8X)

[Krayzie

The name is Krazie, big bad ass bone

Along with some cash,

I'm
headed for the west
Heard they got a couple banks in town
that ain't been held upyet
Well uh, I oughta make it
by sundown
I figure thats enough time for me to get the
whole run down
So I continue my mission
Its gettin
dark so now now I'm watchin for them damn injuns
They
like to catch us, then they rob and split
I be a rootin,
tootin, shootin damn fool, protecting my chips
All of the
sudden I heard somebody rumble in the bushes
Stop my horse
"wwhhooaa nellie"
Who in the bushes you betta speak out or
I'ma let my shotgun songsing out

[Thug Queen]
Who is this? Hope this ain't the law
Jumped out the
bushes with my saw-it-off shotgun

[Krazie Bone]
Come on out right now I'm gettin angry
Took a step
back cause it could get dangerous

[Thug Queen]
Please don't shoot its just me Thug Queen the horse
stealer

[Krazie Bone]
Then why the hell is you
hidin them bushes

[Thug Queen]
I'm wanted
in four counties
For armed robberies
Killed two
sheriffs, six of his best men want my head
Stole two
horses
Thought you was the law that's why I jumped in
them bushes

[Krazie Bone]
Goodness, now she was
hotter than the barrel of fire
But I could use her for the
job so I told her to ride c'mon

[Thug Queen]
May I ask you what you headed to the west for?

[Krayzie Bone]
I got a partner, got a plan for some
dough
And if you down you can pick up yourself a pretty
penny
Be in town in a minute, now be sure if you wit it

[Thug Queen]
We hurry 'for the sunrise
Gotta stalion, for ya parter to ride
Hit the saloon for
the moonshine
Down for whatever lets ride lets ride

[Krayzie Bone]
These directions say we got to
Tucson Arizona
When we arrive we cop a place we can bunk
And meet my boy in the morning for details and hookups

You betta count your money (Repeat 4X)

[Krayzie Bone]
Rise and shine, good morning howdy
Nine o clock we meet my boy in the saloon in the valley
Now I done came along way I don't wanna be late

[Thug Queen]
Tell him we make it to him
You know
where we at (Move Out!)

Giddy up, giddy up, giddy up
(Move out!) (Repeat 4X)
You betta count your money (Repeat
2X)

[Layzie Bone]
I'm peepin Krazyie's
warning posted in the saloon
So I assume it'll be
trouble round here pretty soon
Glance across the room I see
this youngster gettin ready tofight
But if he mess up the
night, I think that Krayzie just might takehis life
So I
approach him at a pause
Look man I really don't wanna
brawl, why don't you chill
Before the them laws come
messing up this master plan
Since y'all 'ready
rowdy I just ask ya man, hey
You want some work, well
partna put in ya bid
Now by the was whats ya name they call
me Layzie the kid

[Powder P]
The names Powder P
can I get a twelve gauge
Outlawed everyday on the front
page
Mr Kid, if you give me the low down
Me and
Blackjack, we ready for the showdown
With two double
barrels pointed at whatever
We'll stick together,
I'm perdy clever

[Layzie Bone]
So saddle up
jump on the bandwagon
Because its all goin down
I
heard a guy run in the bar screaming Krayzies in town

[Krayzie Bone]
Now when we get to the saloon, you
don't worry
Wait outside and dont' be stealin
nobodys damn horses
Stepped inside the bar, Layzie Kid, you
son of a gun!

[Layzie Bone]
Hey man I'm
glad you made it safely
Now let's go have some fun
And this my partner powder hes a young gun

[Power
P]
Howdy

[Krayzie Bone]
Mighty glad to meet
you son
Oh yeah you know I also brought a friend along
Meet thug queen the horse peddler
Stragler, just met
her

[Thug Queen]
Howdy partner
Already got
the horses saddled up

[Layzie Bone]
I hope you
good at robbing banks
Like you rustle that cattle

[Powder P]
Now y'all
Its gon be gettin dark
real soon

[Krayzie Bone]
I think you right
I say we move (c'mon) let's move out!

Giddy up, giddy up, giddy up (Move out!) (Repeat 4X)
You
betta count your money (Repeat till fade)

Iron Maiden - Rime of the Ancient Mariner

Hear the rime of the ancient mariner
See his eye as he stops one of three
Mesmerises one of the wedding guests
Stay here and listen to the nightmares of the sea.

And the music plays on, as the bride passes by
Caught by his spell and the mariner tells his tale.

Driven south to the land of the snow and ice
To a place where nobody's been
Through the snow fog flies on the albatross
Hailed in God's name, hoping good luck it brings.

And the ship sails on, back to the North
Through the fog and ice and the albatross follows on.

The mariner kills the bird of good omen
His shipmates cry against what he's done
But when the fog clears, they justify him
And make themselves a part of the crime.

Sailing on and on and north across the sea
Sailing on and on and north 'til all is calm.

The albatross begins with its vengeance
A terrible curse a thirst has begun
His shipmates blame bad luck on the mariner
About his neck, the dead bird is hung.

And the curse goes on and on at sea
And the thirst goes on and on for them and me.

"Day after day, day after day,
we stuck nor breath nor motion
as idle as a painted ship upon a painted ocean
Water, water everywhere and
all the boards did shrink
Water, water everywhere nor any drop to drink."

There calls the mariner
There comes a ship over the line
But how can she sail with no wind in her sails and no tide.

See...onward she comes
Onward she nears out of the sun
See, she has no crew
She has no life, wait but there's two.

Death and she Life in Death,
They throw their dice for the crew
She wins the mariner and he belongs to her now.
Then...crew one by one
they drop down dead, two hundred men
She...she, Life in Death.
She lets him live, her chosen one.

"One after one by the star dogged moon,
too quick for groan or sigh
each turned his face with a ghastly pang
and cursed me with his eye
four times fifty living men
(and I heard nor sigh nor groan)
with heavy thump, a lifeless lump,
they dropped down one by one."

The curse it lives on in their eyes
The mariner he wished he'd die
Along with the sea creatures
But they lived on, so did he.

And by the light of the moon
He prays for their beauty not doom
With heart he blesses them
God's creatures all of them too.

Then the spell starts to break
The albatross falls from his neck
Sinks down like lead into the sea
Then down in falls comes the rain.

Hear the groans of the long dead seamen
See them stir and they start to rise
Bodies lifted by good spirits
None of them speak and they're lifelesss in their eyes

And revenge is still sought, penance starts again
Cast into a trance and the nightmare carries on.

Now the curse is finally lifted
And the mariner sights his home
spirits go from the long dead bodies
Form their own light and the mariner's left alone.

And then a boat came sailing towards him
It was a joy he could not believe
The pilot's boat, his son and the hermit,
Penance of life will fall onto him.

And the ship it sinks like lead into the sea
And the hermit shrieves the mariner of his sins.

The mariner's bound to tell of his story
To tell this tale wherever he goes
To teach God's word by his own example
That we must love all things that God made.

And the wedding guest's a sad and wiser man
And the tale goes on and on and on.

Heavy Metal ballad by Virgin Steele

Gate Of Kings (acoustic version)

Stay.......Heaven Weeps for thee.......Black Water......Remember.......

There's a Rainbow, cover it in Blood
There's no Light upon my door
There's a Cold Wind, Rising from the Sea
There is Death and nothing more...
But don't turn away with eyes of the blind
There's still Magick in your Soul
There is Magick still...

Iron Walls and Chains surround us
Yet we are Proud and Free
Nothing Kills the Ties that Bind us
I'll meet you at the GATE OF KINGS!!!

There's a Silence, tearing up the ground
Freezing Heart and Shield and Bone
In their grasp I...I see you as you lay
Broken, cold beneath their Rage
We won't turn away with eyes of the blind
There's still Magick in our Souls...(Believe it...)
There is Magick still...

Iron Walls and Chains surround us
Yet we are Proud and Free
Nothing Kills the Ties that Bind us
I'll meet you at the GATE OF KINGS...THE GATE OF KINGS...(No never forget)

Iron Walls and Chains surround us
Yet we are Proud and Free
Nothing Kills the Ties that Bind us
I'll meet you at the GATE OF KINGS...
NO...NO...

Iron Walls surround us, the velvet Kingdom falls
The Ties of Blood will bind us above the Winter Storm...
Sadness Kills the Rainbow, the Mystic Stars entwine
The Rage of Angels guides us into the Void...

Iron Walls and Chains surround us
Yet we are Proud and Free
Nothing Kills the Ties that Bind us
I'll meet you at the GATE OF KINGS...

Stay...'Cause we can't be who we once were...We're so afraid...of who we are...

I never can say goodbye
No, no, no i, I never can say goodbye
Every time I think Ive had enough
And start heading for the door
Theres a very strange vibration
Kissing me right to the core or pericing me right to the core

It says turn around you fool,
You know you love him more
And more
Tell me why is it so?
Dont wanna let you go

I never can say goodbye boy
Ooh ooh baby I never can say goodbye
No no no no no no
Ooh hey I never can say goodbye, boy

Theres that anguish, theres that doubt
Its that same old dizzy hangup
I cant do with you or without or youve had with you all your life
Tell me why is it so? I dont wanna let you go
I never can say goodbye boy, ooh baby
I never can say goodbye, no no no no no no
Hey I never can say goodbye boy,ooh baby
I never can say goodbye, no no no no no no

I never can say goodbye, no no no no no no
I never can say goodbye, boy
I never can say goodbye, no no no no no no
[never can say goodbye, boy]
[never can say goodbye, boy]

All guns blazing - Saxon

All guns blazing

Back's against the wall
Don't let the system break you
Why make it easy for them all
Barricade your doors
Defend yourself don't let them in
Keep hostile forces from your shores

Don't let them grind you down
Keep both feet on the ground
The battle rages on and on
Going in - All guns blazing
Going in - Get out my line of fire
Going in - All guns blazing
Going in - Get out my line of fire
All guns blazing

Together we will stand
Don't let the sword divide you
Draw your line across the sand
Waiting for the fall
Stand your ground we're digging in
This time we rally to the cause

Don't let them grind you down
Keep both feet on the ground
The battle rages on and on
Going in - All guns blazing
Going in - Get out my line of fire
Going in - All guns blazing
Going in - Get out my line of fire

Back's against the wall
Don't let the system break you
Why make it easy for them all
Barricade your doors
Defend yourself don't let them in
Keep hostile forces from your shores

Don't let them grind you down
Keep both feet on the ground
The battle rages on and on
Going in - All guns blazing
Going in - Get out my line of fire
Going in - All guns blazing
Going in - Get out my line of fire

Going in - All guns blazing
Going in - Get out my line of fire
Going in - All guns blazing
Going in - Get out my line of fire

Voices by Russ Ballard

If you could see my mind, if you really look deep, then maybe you'll find
That somewhere there will be a place, hidden behind my comedian face
You will find somewhere there's a house, and inside that house there's a room
Locked in the room in the corner you see
A voice is waiting for me, to set it free, I got the key, I got the key

Voices, I hear voices

In my head the voice is waiting, waiting for me to set it free
I locked it inside my imagination, but I'm the one who's got the combination
Some people didn't like what the voice did say
So I took the voice and I locked it away, I got the key, I got the key

Voices, I hear voices, voices, I hear voices
Chorus:
Don't look back, look straight ahead, don't turn away, then the voice it said
Don't look back, yesterday's gone, don't turn away, you can take it on
(Solo)
Voices, I hear voices, voices, I hear voices
(chorus repeats 3x)
Voices, voices, voices, voices - don't look back
Voices, voices
(chorus repeats 2x)...

Cigarettes - Fort Minor

And I love this rap game mainly cause its cool,
To add a little spice to the life you've been through,
Everyone exaggerates a tiny little bit,
Make that **** sound more gangsta then it really is,
You cant appear weak man,
We wanna hear street,
We wanna hear you spit your thug over this here beat,
Don't take it as sarcastic,
I can't get enough I'm tellin you,
You can call my bluff if its not rough then I really don't need it,
I'm not even ashamed,
I've got too much reality and its fillin up my brain,
So sell me on the product,
I'm addicted to the game,
Suck it up like a cigarette,
Light it up.

Its just like a cigarette,
Its something that I do,
Once in a while but between me and you,
Its just like a cigarette,
No body's really fooled,
I don't want the truth,
I just wanna feel ****in cool.

Let me tell you somethin that I realized tonight,
My hip-hop radios like Marlboro light,
They're both selling stories and they sound about the same,
Cigarettes say they're safe,
Rappers say they really bang,
We don't care if its true when we lay the money down,
We don't believe the words,
We just love the way they sound,
They're acting like we're idiots,
They're lying to our face,
Maybe we are idiots,
We buy it anyway.
I'm runnin out to get the next rappers CD,
Just suckin up the guns, drugs and misogyny,
The same way that I suck up all the stories that I breath,
That little bit of death supposedly cancer free,
And everything they say got the truth twisted up,
Its what I want man I can't get enough,
Cause even though we know its all just a big bluff,
We just light another up,
WHAT we don't give a ****.

Its just like a cigarette,
Its something that I do,
Once in a while but between me and you,
Its just like a cigarette,
Nobody's really fooled,
I don't want the truth,
I just wanna feel ****in cool.

Its just like a cigarette,
Its something that I do,
Over and over but between me and you,
Its just like a cigarette,
Nobody's really fooled,
I don't want the truth,
I just wanna feel ****in cool.

Man listen to my words,
Listen for a while,
Lip service radio,
Don't touch the dial.

If you're in the car,
Turn up the track man,
Give your whole neighborhood some second hand rap,
Hey,
Matter of fact,
Listen for a while,
Lip service radio,
Don't touch the dial.

Its just like a cigarette,
Its something that I do,
Once in a while but between me and you,
Its just like a cigarette,
Nobody's really fooled,
I don't want the truth,
I just wanna feel ****in cool.

Its just like a cigarette,
Its something that I do,
Over and over but between me and you,
Its just like a cigarette,
Nobody's really fooled,
I don't want the truth,
I just wanna feel ****in cool

More Fort Minor, probably my favourite hip-hop group right now.

Kenji - Fort Minor

[Japanese man]My father came from Japan in 1905
He was 15 when he immigrated from Japan
He, he... he worked until he was able to buy this patch
And build a store

[Fort Minor]Let me tell you the story in the form of a dream,
I don't know why I have to tell it but I know what it means,
Close your eyes, just picture the scene,
As I paint it for you, it was World War II,
When this man named Kenji woke up,
Ken was not a soldier,
He was just a man with a family who owned a store in LA,
That day, he crawled out of bed like he always did,
Bacon and eggs with wife and kids,
He lived on the second floor of a little store he ran,
He moved to LA from Japan,
They called him 'Immigrant,'
In Japanese, he'd say he was called "Issei,"
That meant 'First Generation In The United States,'
When everyone was afraid of the Germans, afraid of the Japs,
But most of all afraid of a homeland attack,
And that morning when Ken went out on the doormat,
His world went black 'cause,
Right there; front page news,
Three weeks before 1942,
"Pearl Harbour's Been Bombed And The Japs Are Comin',"
Pictures of soldiers dyin' and runnin',
Ken knew what it would lead to,
Just like he guessed, the President said,
"The evil Japanese in our home country will be locked away,"
They gave Ken, a couple of days,
To get his whole life packed in two bags,
Just two bags, couldn't even pack his clothes,
Some folks didn't even have a suitcase, to pack anything in,
So two trash bags was all they gave them,
When the kids asked mum "Where are we goin'?"
Nobody even knew what to say to them,
Ken didn't wanna lie, he said "The US is lookin' for spies,
So we have to live in a place called Manzanar,
Where a lot of Japanese people are,"
Stop it don't look at the gunmen,
You don't wanna get the soldiers wonderin',
If you gonna run or not,
'Cause if you run then you might get shot,
Other than that try not to think about it,
Try not to worry 'bout it; bein' so crowded,
Someday we'll get out, someday, someday.

[Japanese Woman]As soon as war broke out
The G.I came and they just come to the house and
"You have to come"
"All the Japanese have to go"
They took Mr. Lee
People didn't understand
Why did they have to take him?
Because he's an innocent labourer

[Fort Minor]So now they're in a town with soldiers surroundin' them,
Every day, every night look down at them,
From watch towers up on the wall,
Ken couldn't really hate them at all;
They were just doin' their job and,
He wasn't gonna make any problems,
He had a little garden with vegetables and fruits that,
He gave to the troops in a basket his wife made,
But in the back of his mind, he wanted his families life saved,
Prisoners of war in their own damn country,
What for?
Time passed in the prison town,
He wanted them to live it down when they were free,
The only way out was joinin' the army,
And supposedly, some men went out for the army, signed on,
And ended up flyin' to Japan with a bomb,
That 15 kiloton blast, put an end to the war pretty fast,
Two cities were blown to bits; the end of the war came quick,
Ken got out, big hopes of a normal life, with his kids and his wife,
But, when they got back to their home,
What they saw made them feel so alone,
These people had trashed every room,
Smashed in the windows and bashed in the doors,
Written on the walls and the floor,
"Japs not welcome anymore."
And Kenji dropped both of his bags at his sides and just stood outside,
He, looked at his wife without words to say,
She looked back at him wiped the tears away,
And, said "Someday we'll be okay, someday,"
Now the names have been changed, but the story's true,
My family was locked up back in '42,
My family was there it was dark and damp,
And they called it an internment camp

[Japanese Man]When we first got back from camp... uhh
It was... pretty... pretty bad

[Japanese Woman]I, I remember my husband said
"Are we gonna stay 'til last?"
Then my husband died before they close the camp.

Hurt - Johnny Cash

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything
What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt

I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here

What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt

I will let you down
I will make you hurt

If I could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

This is a very good song by Iced Earth. It's also 30 minutes long (Divided in three parts).

Gettysburg 1863 - Iced Earth

Devil to Pay

[July 1st, 1863]

In July 1863
A nation torn in tragedy
A trick of fate, two great armies merge
Gods of war at Gettysburg
Devastation lies ahead
50,000 bodies litter the land
Hell rages three full days
The reaper sows, there's the devil to pay

The pressure's on and the reb's attack
The yanks must hold, They can't fall back
Just two brigades, 2000 strong
Against 20,000 they can't hold long

General Reynolds makes his way
Expect no mercy from the iron brigade
Until he shows they're on their own
But Buford's men have a will of stone

Bayonets gleam in the morning sun
Smoke and fire belching from their guns
Another volley and again they strike
Thousands more comin' down Chambersburg pike

[Chorus:]
This tragedy and what it brings
All the devastation
(The reaper has his way)
Men will kill, Blood will spill
To preserve the nation
(There's the devil to pay)

South of town down the Emmitsburg road
The first corps are starting to show
For Buford's men, they're here just in time
The desperate need to strengthen the line

Bodies dropping the blue and the grey
Muskets fire and cannon blaze
The union fights defending the town
But they're outnumbered and losing ground

From the north and the west more rebels arrive
Thousands more and the fight multiplies
McPhearson's ridge and the black hats strike
A rebel sharpshooter takes Reynolds life

[Repeat Chorus]

Attack! Attack! General Lee gives command
They're overwhelmed, The situation demands
The federals retreat and rush out of town
But they have fortified and saved the high ground

The day ends in victory for the south
Lee's as convinced as God's will is profound
They are invincible and their cause is just
But Longstreet is cautious and lacking in trust

Across the way the union digs in
The round tops, Cemetery Ridge and out to Culps Hill
Their lines are strong, no denying they'll stay
When the confederates strike
There'll be the devil to pay

[Repeat Chorus]

Hold At All Costs

[July 2nd, 1863]

Just a mile or so away
Is my dearest friend in this world.
He wears the Blue and I the Grey
And god it hurts me so
The last time we were together
I grabbed his hand and I pledged
If I ever draw my sword on you
May the good lord strike me dead.

The union flank's in trouble
To the round top on the double
A bad decision, insubordination
Exposed our lie in a dangerous way

The burden lies upon us
Surrender is not an option
We are the flank and if we break
The union crumbles, We could lose the war!

Down below's the carnage
The rebel's charging onward
Push the slaughter forward, the peach orchard.
Through the wheat field and devils den

The valour of the Texans
And Alabama's best men
Their Unrelenting and Devastating
The last full measure of devotion's clear.

[Chorus:]
We know what we're made of.
When up against all odds we hold our line
For the cause that we so love
We must hold at all cost
We know what we're made of
when our nation needs us we'll stay the cause
for the union we so love
We must hold at all costs!

Wave after wave they're coming
Their power must be waning!
We're out of ammo, we can't fall back, no!
One desperate measure, a means to end

On their next wave we charge them
There is no other option
Disconcert them, force submission
On my command, fix bayonets!

[Chorus:]
We know what we're made of.
When up against all odds we hold our line
For the cause that we so love
We must hold at all cost
We know what we're made of
when our nation needs us we'll stay the cause
for the union we so love
We must hold at all costs!

[Chorus:]
We know what we're made of.
When up against all odds we hold our line
For the cause that we so love
We must hold at all cost
We know what we're made of
when our nation needs us we'll stay the cause
for the union we so love
We must hold at all costs!

High Water Mark

[July 3rd, 1863]

[1. Cannonade/Intro]

[Instrumental]

[2. The Burden of Command]

[Lee:]
"It Was Very Close Yesterday
I Thought For Sure They Would Break
But This Attack That I Have Planned
A Massive Strike Across Open Land
In The Center They Will Break (Will They Break?)
But Plan It Well, Everything's At Stake
We'll Hit 'Em Hard, Not A Silent Gun
Before The Infantry's Begun"

"Execute It Well, We Risk Everything"
"It's In God's Hands Now

[Longstreet:]
"General Lee I Must Tell You Straight
I Believe This Attack Will Fail
No 15,000 Men Ever Made
Will Overtake That Ridge Today
A Mile Charge Over Open Ground
With Yankee Cannon Gunnin' Us Down"

[Lee:]
"We Do Our Duty, We Do What We Must
And In My Plan You Will Trust"

(Thousands Die, On This Day)
"Execute It Well, We Risk Everything"
"It's In God's Hands Now"

[3. The Last Full Measure]

The Rebel Cannon Break The Silence
150 Guns Make Up Their Cannonade

They Must Destroy The Union Center
Before The Infantry Can Launch Their Grand Assault

The Yankees Are Returning Fire
(The Earth Shakes Violently)
In Washington D.C. Lincoln Feels The Earth Shake

What Happens Here This Day
The Fate Of This Nation
In The Balance It Will Hang
Consumed With The Pain
The Courage Of The Blue
The Valor Of The Grey
So Very Sad But True
Consumed With The Pain

The Virginians Are The Chosen
In Wait Behind The Trees On Seminary Ridge

Longstreet's Slow To Give The Order
The Lines Emerge, A Mile, 15,000 Men

The Charge Begins In All It's Grandeur
(To The Copse Of Trees)
For Many Of These Men They Know It Is Their Last

The Slaughter Now Ensues
Bodies Fall Like Rain
They Valiantly Pursue
Yet Doomed To Remain
At The Double Quick They Charge
The Canister Rips Through Them
To The Mouth Of hell They March
Glory, The Only Gain

[4. Charge!!]

[Armistead:]
"We're Almost There My Boys
I've Never Served With Finer
We Must Push Forward Boys
And Bayonet The Yankee Tyrants
To The Copse Of Trees We Charge
To Crush The Union Center
And When They Turn And Run
An Open Road Leads Us To Freedom"

[5. The Melee]

[Lee:]
"It's Over Now We Are Retreating
I Never Thought That We'd Be Beaten
All This Blood Is On My Hands
The Thousands Dead Due To My Plan
I Am Responsible, All Of It Is My Fault
I Thought Us Invincible
Is This God's Will After All?
I Look Across This Blood Soaked Land
All This Blood Is On My Hands
God Forgive Me, Please Forgive Me
It's All My Fault, The Blood Is On My Hands"

A mention of Leonard Cohen in SYM reminded me how much I love this piece....was my "theme song" for quite a long time..

Bird On The Wire

Like a bird on the wire,
Like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be free.
Like a worm on a hook,
Like a knight from some old fashioned book
I have saved all my ribbons for thee.
If I, if I have been unkind,
I hope that you can just let it go by.
If I, if I have been untrue
I hope you know it was never to you.

Like a baby, stillborn,
Like a beast with his horn
I have torn everyone who reached out for me.
But I swear by this song
And by all that I have done wrong
I will make it all up to thee.
I saw a beggar leaning on his wooden crutch,
He said to me, you must not ask for so much.
And a pretty woman leaning in her darkened door,
She cried to me, hey, why not ask for more?

Oh like a bird on the wire,
Like a drunk in a midnight choir
I have tried in my way to be free.

Leonard Cohen

And a couple more from the same album...

Joan of Arc

Now the flames they followed Joan of Arc
as she came riding through the dark;
no moon to keep her armour bright,
no man to get her through this very smoky night.
She said, "I'm tired of the war,
I want the kind of work I had before,
a wedding dress or something white
to wear upon my swollen appetite."

Well, I'm glad to hear you talk this way,
you know I've watched you riding every day
and something in me yearns to win
such a cold and lonesome heroine.
"And who are you?" she sternly spoke
to the one beneath the smoke.
"Why, I'm fire," he replied,
"And I love your solitude, I love your pride."

"Then fire, make your body cold,
I'm going to give you mine to hold,"
saying this she climbed inside
to be his one, to be his only bride.
And deep into his fiery heart
he took the dust of Joan of Arc,
and high above the wedding guests
he hung the ashes of her wedding dress.

It was deep into his fiery heart
he took the dust of Joan of Arc,
and then she clearly understood
if he was fire, oh then she must be wood.
I saw her wince, I saw her cry,
I saw the glory in her eye.
Myself I long for love and light,
but must it come so cruel, and oh so bright?

Suzanne

Suzanne takes you down to her place near the river
You can hear the boats go by
You can spend the night beside her
And you know that she's half crazy
But that's why you want to be there
And she feeds you tea and oranges
That come all the way from China
And just when you mean to tell her
That you have no love to give her
Then she gets you on her wavelength
And she lets the river answer
That you've always been her lover
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that she will trust you
For you've touched her perfect body with your mind.
And Jesus was a sailor
When he walked upon the water
And he spent a long time watching
From his lonely wooden tower
And when he knew for certain
Only drowning men could see him
He said "All men will be sailors then
Until the sea shall free them"
But he himself was broken
Long before the sky would open
Forsaken, almost human
He sank beneath your wisdom like a stone
And you want to travel with him
And you want to travel blind
And you think maybe you'll trust him
For he's touched your perfect body with his mind.
Now Suzanne takes your hand
And she leads you to the river
She is wearing rags and feathers
From Salvation Army counters
And the sun pours down like honey
On our lady of the harbour
And she shows you where to look
Among the garbage and the flowers
There are heroes in the seaweed
There are children in the morning
They are leaning out for love
And they will lean that way forever
While Suzanne holds the mirror
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that you can trust her
For she's touched your perfect body with her mind.

An oldie I remember from being a little tyke.

Well, I guess at 22, I should be considered old for liking this song.

Bob Seger - Old Time of Rock and Roll

Just take those old records off the shelf
Ill sit and listen to em by myself
Todays music aln t got the same soul
I like that old time rock n roll
Dont try to take me to a disco
Youll never even get me out on the
In ten minutes Ill be late for the door
I like that old time rockn roll

Still like that old time rockn roll
That kind of music just soothes the soul
I reminisce about the days of old
With that old time rock n roll

Wont go to hear them play a tango
Id rather hear some blues or funky old soul
Theres only sure way to get me to go
Start playing old time rock n roll
Call me a relic, call me what you will
Say Im old-fashioned, say Im over the hill
Today music aint got the same soul
I like that old time rock n roll

*saxophone solo*

Still like that old time rockn roll
That kind of music just soothes the soul
I reminisce about the days of old
With that old time rock n roll

You should hear the bass in this song!

Anthrax - Got the Time

Wake up, got another day to get,
Through now, got another man to see
Gotta call him on the telephone ay o
Gotta find a piece of paper
Sit down, got another letter to write,
Think hard, gotta get a letter just right
Little ringin on the telephone oh no,
Gotta write another letter
No such thing as tomorrow
All we want
Two, three, go!
Time, got the time tick tick tickin in my head
Time, got the time tick tick tickin in my head
Time, got the time tick tick tickin in my head
Tickin in my head, tickin in my head, tickin in my head

If I, tell ya what Im doing today
Will you, shut up and get out of my way
Someone ask me what the time is, I dont know
Only know I gotta go now
No time, tryin ta get a watch repaired
No time, never got a thing to wear
Little ringin on the telephone
Oh no, hear a ringin in my head now
No such thing as tomorrow
All we want
Two, three, go!
Time, got the time tick tick tickin in my head
Time, got the time tick tick tickin in my head
Time, got the time tick tick tickin in my head
Tickin in my head, tickin in my head, tickin in my head

*instrumental*

No such thing as tomorrow
All we want
Two, three, go!
Time, got the time tick tick tickin in my head
Time, got the time tick tick tickin in my head
Time, got the time tick tick tickin in my head
Tickin in my head, tickin in my head
Tickin in my head!

From the newest Motörhead-album, Kiss of Death

I think this is the only song that would pass the filter, but it is a very good song anyways :p

Sword of Glory

Listen,

Where are we to go from here in time,
Do you see the future, do you know,
What can you expect from years to come,
And what can you do now to make it so,

All of history is there for you,
All the deeds done in the would are mad
If you don't know what has gone before,
You'll just make the same mistake again & again & again.

Soldier, soldier, see where we were,
You have to know the story,
Older, colder, life isn't fair,
Got to grab the sword of Glory,

If you can't see what bloody fools we were,
Then you are also born a bloody fool,
Listen to the hundred million dead,
They didn't know it, but they died for you,

All you know is that you're young & though,
Don't you think those millions though the same,
If you don't know where it all went wrong,
You'll just make the same mistake again & again & again.

Soldier, soldier, see where we were,
You have to know the story
Older or colder, life ain't fair,
Got to grab the sword of glory,

*Solo*

Read the books, learn to save your life,
How can you find the knowledge if you don't,
All the brave men died before their time,
You'll either be a hero, or you won't,

Don't you realize the only way,
Is see why all those brave men died in vain,
If all that slaughter doesn't make you sad,
You'll just make the same mistake again & again & again.

Soldier, soldier, see where we were,
You have to know the story,
Older or colder, life ain't fair,
Got to grab the sword of glory.

ANTI-FLAG LYRICS

"Until It Happens To You"

You walk past an activist, who is talking on the street
About political prisoners, locked up in your own home state
And you think just for a minute, you think just a second
Then you say, "That can't be true!
Cause I live in the land of the freedom... where no one gets the screw!"

You turn your face, you turn your back
You say, "That can't be true!"
You stay safe lost in your prefab world
Cause you're sure it won't happen to you
You're sure it won't happen to you
Just wait till it happens to you!

You’ve heard it every day, since the first day of your life
But you never stopped to think, what you heard was full of lies
You can't think just for a minute, can't think just for a second
Cause you're nothing but a tool
Whose thoughts are tailored and fashioned
Each night by the evening news

You turn your face, you turn your back
You say, "That can't be true!"
You stay safe lost in your prefab world
Cause you're sure it won't happen to you
You're sure it won't happen to you
Just wait till it happens to you!

You could stand on the street, talk 'til you're blue in the face
And they would not make you stop, cause you have no power base
But if Dan Rather got on the Evening News,
And said, "It’s time for revolution!"
The F.B.I. would **** him up so bad
He’d wish he wasn't living!

They call it America, "land of the free, home of the brave"
And they call it America, "land of the free, home of the brave"
Yeah they call it America, "land of the free, home of the brave"
More to the truth it's a murderer, it's the land of the Enslaved!

You turn your face, you turn your back
You say, "That can't be true!"
You stay safe lost in your prefab world
Cause you're sure it won't happen to you
You're sure it won't happen to you
You’re sure it won’t happen to
Sure it won’t happen
Sure it won’t happen to you!

Here are two snippets from K-Fed's new album. I don't actually know what songs they're from and I don't want to find out either.

I'm handin' out ass kickin's like diplomas
Who the first to get it?
Ya know K Feds wit it
All that <bad word!> rappers talk about, I already did it

But im nasty
Too <bad word!>in' slick and sly
So high
I could prolly drop a <bad word!> and fly
You gonna need a big army
If you comin for me
K. Federline - I hit like tsunamis

I particularly enjoyed his diploma and tsunami similes.
