BGI Ending...kinda let down (possible spoilers)

Well, after 2 years of owning the game and several re-starts (for various reasons) I have finally killed the big S. Tough fight but I never saw some of the things mentioned on this forum...like the nabassau. But my main complaint is in the kinda lame ending. You kill S (Tazok and the dude with the arrows of detonation were my main problem) and boo, its over...end credits. You don't get to wrap things up with the Duke and you don't get to loot the bad guys. I was slightly let down. After chasing S when I exposed him at the coronation, I lost all interest in the last couple of side quests. I actually felt the desire to kill S and I felt the anticipation building. The game writers were masterful in creating that emotion in the players. I'm kinda sad that its over...for now.

Now all I have to do is figger out how to import from BGI to BGII. Kind of embarrassing but I am probably the only one on this forum who doesn't know how to do it...

To import your BG1 character to BG2, go into your BG1 characters folder and copy the appropriate file to your BG2 characters folder. Then in BG2 get to the character creation screen, select Import, select the appropriate file, redistribute a few skills, and there you go.

That was quite easy. Thanks! Although I tried the pause thing to retain my equipment and some of it did not transfer over...like a frostbrand scimitar... as well as a couple of minor things that I liked. Guess I'll just have to pickpocket Drizzt again :D .

I actually imported my BG1 savegame (called "Final Save") into BG2.

BG1 automatically creates this savegame when you enter the last area to fight S.

I had heard certain flags (indicating how events in your BG1 game transpired) carry over into BG2, if you import your BG1 "Final Save" into BG2. Not sure of the particulars...

Glad to hear you liked BG1. If you're about to play BG2 for the first time, then...
#1. I envy you, and...
#2. Stay away from forums, so as to remain un-spoiled

I dig reading about a first-timer's reaction to BG. Keep us posted when you get started on BG2, if it's your first run. Keep your eyes closed with all other threads...

I had actually started playing BGII before I got BGI and I stopped playing it as soon as I got hooked so I could play it from beginning to end.

I have never tried any of those methods, but I do believe that the intended way of importing your character into BGII is through Tales of the Sword Coast (TotSC for short). That is where the nabassu you spoke of are.

A Good Call. A few of the events of BG2 will hit home a little more by playing BG1 first.

Heh....I actually came very close to quitting and never playing again because I was very frustrated because I couldn't get out of the dungeon (lvl 1 :o ) . I then figured out I had to talk to the one golem and got my butt thoroughly kicked by that cambion...

A Close Call. Jaheira's Entangle spell saved me there.
