Question out there for anyone...

I find that I can't equip and AC bonus armor when an item of protection is equipped (ex, cloak +1 or Ring).

I then scan the board and find people with magic armor and magic rings, etc. I begin to wonder why it is I cannot....

Any help would be GREAT!!!

Only one item of magic protection can be equipped at a time, though there are exceptions (cloak of the sewers springs to mind). But don't feel to bad, the game operates with a -10 AC max anyway.

Basically, it works something like this: You can't equip more than one item that just grants AC or saving throw bonuses. For example, you couldn't equip both a +2 ring of protection and +2 plate mail. However, if an item has special powers that go above and beyond the AC bonus (e.g., Cloak of the Sewers, Ring of Gaxx), then it can be equiped along with one other protection item. IMHO, this makes protection-only rings and amulets pretty much useless to anyone except Kensai, since most of the best armour occupies the protection allowance. Could be useful for Mages, Thieves, and Druids, but in those cases the Bracers of Defense tend to be better choices.

This -10 AC.

Is it to be understanded that you can't get you AC lower than -10, or it just won't have an effect. Becuase IIRC - then I at one time with a lvl Swashbuckler dualed to fighter, and misc. equipment got lower than -10 (but my mind, maby playing tricks on me <g> )

K gotcha, I am on my second time thorugh the game and Just ran through it the first time, hell never even got the ring of gaxx.

I found as a fighter, dual-classed to mage was pretty easy....So I am doing it again with a Cavalier....Try to make the game more intense by actually being up front, rather then Stoneskined in the middle casting Sunflare on everything.

;p

Thanks for the info

basically by not getting lower than -10 rumagent ment that if the ac number is lower than -10 then it will have no extra effect, so basically an ac of -18 would have the same effect as an ac of -10

another thing woth mentioning is that having normal full plate mail and a ring of protection +1 is better than having full platemail+1 because with the magical armour you only get +1 to ac but with the ring you get +1 to ac and +1 to saving throws.
