Questions and more (May be spoilers within)

OK, here goes.

I'm not too far into the game, but I'd like to know if I'm doing things in the "right" order, esp. as relates to the Jaheira romance and stuff. I'm *not* looking for spoilers per se, but a nudge in the right direction if I'm dropping the ball.

I have a wife, mortgage, three kids and a job, so I don't have enough free time to experiment too thoroughly, if you know what I mean. Image

Anyway, Imoen's with the CWs, I retrieved Renfeld's body, searched for Xzar's buddy in the Harper house (and they killed him! I didn't expect that), and I haven't gotten any new Harper quests, which from poking around here I kind of expected. I'm now off to the Keep to help Nalia. I was in the Dock area, but haven't gone to see the Shadow Thieves or done the locket thing yet or Jaheira's curse either. I'm NG, so I'm trying to help Nalia first. Is doing the Maer'var assassination for Bloodscalp going to hurt me in the long run, esp. as a NG PC? (I've experimented a little, to be honest. Just not a lot. Like I said, I haven't a lot of time for saving/reloading, but I do it once in a while.) Am I going about this right, so to speak? With a group averaging 8th level, is the Keep too tough yet?

And finally, what's the deal with that Romeo and Juliet style romance in the gate district? Oh, and the FREAKING LICH behind the secret door of this little ****hole that kicked my butt in 10 seconds with a Time Stop, Meteor Storm and Gate of a Pit Fiend! What the heck was *that* all about? Mr. Evil Undead Wizard is *not* your friend, apparently! < :-)

Thanks all for your help in advance!!

About the romance: buy her a locked from the docks district (a guy near the temple i think) and then just do your quests the love dialogs are timed (real timed not game time).

Mae'Vars assasination will not hurt your reputation or go against your aligment. Jaheiras quests takes a long time to activate, RL time more than game time though, but are well worth it in my humble opinion.

The "Romeo and Juliet" style pair you met are just a little funny sidetrack. Speak to the gentleman that's sitting at one of the tables at the inn to learn more about them.

The liche can be beaten. Look at the strategy guide for battling liches at this site if he continues to bug you. I recommend saving that battle for much later though.

Renal's quests may not hurt your rep., but on the other hand if you feel they are out of character neither will it hurt you to avoid them. Sadly I never got a dialog option to tell Renal that I had no interest in his jobs- but I didn't do them. Nalia whined bitterly when we were asked to steal the amulet- but she did have a point!

Just a little side note on that lich. Be careful if you decide to go in and pester him. He can follow you out of that room and into the bar. The first time I encountered him, he followed me when I ran out and nuked everyone in the bar. :-)

Thanks for the link, Vicsun! Do you know if you have to do the Curse quest *before* you return Renfeld's body and get into the Harper string? Or doesn't that order matter? Anyone know how much time you have to return the body?

Thanks a lot for helping me save a little time here!

well I got the pit fiend following me back to the bar, boy those people in there sure can run.
A lich is bad news since they are undead wizards so use anti-undead weapons and spells on then.doing the Mae´var dont ruin the rep (the neutral side in NG is good thing) and gets you some decent cash (and you are helping the people in Amn by doing so.
And there are not Romeo and Juliet, there are ...
