Does anybody play Baldurs Gate on a laptop? I frequently have 10 hour journeys by plane and was wondering if it was possible to play the game on a reasonably cheap spec laptop.
I don`t want to spend a fortune but I believe that Baldurs Gate doesn`t require a fantasticall high spec to play.
Advice would be appreciated.

It depends on the specifications of your laptop. Playing BG on a laptop itself isn't problem as long as it is at leasf fulfill the specification required.

well i can't be sure, but BG is old enough that most laptops should have the specs, you should check though

I used to play it on a laptop with a P3 processor, 512mb RAM and an intel integrated graphics chip and it worked fine

I only ever play on a 5 year old laptop (mac). Shouldn't be a problem.

If anything it's a question of memory, 2.5 gigs of space on your harddrive. You don't have to have full install but it'll save you carrying cds around or worse need to insert cd 3 if you've left it at home.

Otherwise BG2's idea of a Monster PC is a 700 mhz, 128 ram, 4 mb Video and sound card if I remember right.

I started out with the idea of buying a portable dvd player, but then I thought how great it would be if I could get a cheap laptop instead (maybe around 500 pounds). If I was able to play BG on it, those boring flights would not seem so endless.

All I have ever owned for the past 8 years has been laptops and I haven't encountered any problems.

I started with a P3/900 with integrated Intel graphics and didn't have any problems playing. If you get anything recent you should not have any problems.

Just be sure to get one of those power adapters that works on planes or carry a lot of spare batteries.

I always play on a laptop for the same reason. A dell inspiron 1150 with 512 megs of ram. When I drop down to 256, it still plays (although the os slows down a bit).
