I believe the spells in the Book are random. Here's two that i've got Wyvern Call Level6,True Sight Level 6.Plus the times you can turn page varies.(My first time i turned the page two times and hit the last page;second time i was able to turn the page 10 times.I just remembered i believe i got a Unlimited Wish too.

I believe there is a limited number to choose from. Most of them seem to be low level spells. After reloading i have gotten 6 to 7 spells most of the time the same ones.

Everytime you flip a page, one of many things can happen, either you can get a new spell, get the same spell, or the page was the last page and you lose it. I would save before flipping the page, the reload and flip repeatedly till you get a good spell.
Here's a list of the spells available in ascending level order:
Burning Hands
Protection from Evil
Stinking Cloud
Invisibility
Fireball
Lightning Bolt
Farsight
True Seeing
Wyvern Call
Spell Turning
I like to have it on Spell Turning or Invisibility for my thief.

I found reloading didn't help. It started on fireball for me, I turned that page and got something worse (burning hands maybe?) and that was the last spell. I reloaded and it happened the same way the second time.

Keep trying it will work.It just might take awhile. It took me 4 to 5 times.
