"We are sorry, but we have detected that the game did not exit correctly. We recommend starting the game in safe mode. Safe mode may disable some advanced features of the game, but may allow you to play the game."
I get to choose either "Continue Anyway" OR "Continue in Safe Mode"
Both give me another error saying:
Fable.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
I get to choose "Send Error Report" or "Dont Send"
Please someone help me.

Firstly, what are your PC specs? Secondly, do you have the latest directX installed?

Are your video card drivers the most recent version?

The problem has been resolved. I was chatting with a Microsoft employee, (I guess), and All I had to do was create a new User.

Hello all, thought I would use this thread instead of starting a new one as I have the same problem.
Just bought Fable:TLC, installed it and got the Fable.exe has encountered a problem pop up with send error report or continue options.
After this and trying to start again I get the:
We are sorry, but we have detected that the game did not exit correctly. We recommend starting the game in safe mode. Safe mode may disable some advanced features of the game, but may allow you to play the game.
Choosing this option again does not work.
As for system specs they should be fine, well above the recommended specs and all drivers and direct X are upto date.
The last post here from SwiftDragon mentions the problem has been sorted but I have no idea what he means by Create a New User, I am unable to get anywhere near the game to create a new user and there is nothing in the start menu either to do this.
So does anyone know how to fix this?
Many Thanks

Ok, I've figured out whats wrong.
Soundblaster Card.
I found the Microsoft post about creating a new profile but that didn't fix the problem and I tried a whole host of other supposed tips and none worked.
But disabling Creative SB Audigy 2 (WDM) in Device Manager has got it working but obviously now with no sound.
I'm fairly confident that I'm not the only person with an Audigy card and I assume some of you who have one has got it working so any tips?
I have the latest driver for the card so is there a way for me to get this game working with sound with the card I have?
Thanks Guys.

He could be referring to creating a new profile in Fable.

The other solution is to lower the sound acceleration at the DirectX Diagnostic Tool menu. Usually works in my case when it comes to games which constantly crash on me.

Thanks, got it fixed.
The new profile actually relates to a new Windows user - dont ask me why but it comes from Microsoft themselves. - didn't work.
Sound acceleration I have already tried and had no effect.
What I did to fix it was to actually get an older Soundblaster driver - I think it was from around '05 and it finally worked.

I used to get this problem the new user is referring to a new user account on the computer not within the game.. it was a temp solve for me but then I got that again on the other account.... i recently restored my cpu to factory settings and it works fine i still would like to get to the root of it if it happens again ill try the soundblaster thing....

sorry for bringing back an old thread
but I decided to go ahead and play the game again and the error of course came up but when I clicked on play in safe mode i accidentaly hit the eject button, then clicked it and the put the cd back in and it magically worked lol. But has anyone recently come across this error and found a fix, I hope that Fable 2 never has this problem when it is released..
