Rickling and the good bear (SPOILERS)

Post by PRGFool »

I find the good bear surrounded by Rickling and even before I start hacking and slashing they kill the good bear. The first time, I took the arrow and the rested to see if it was going to heal and i think i ended up resting two weeks of game time and the good bear never healed. I can't complete the quest just taking the arrow out and running back to the beast stone. I looked on the forum and this problem was not mentioned so I am assuming I am doing something wrong. Any suggestions?

Try using a healing spell on it...

Please don't put a spoiler like that in a thread title. I've changed it. In the future, you'll be expected to note when a spoiler is contained, here, or your threads may mysteriously vanish.

If you have a "heal companion" spell, use it. As for the bear dying, theres really nothing you can do (without the console.) If the bear dies and you dont mind using the console, SPOILER/CHEAT --->

Type ~ to bring up the console. Then click on the Good Beast's body, so it's name is displayed in the console. Type 'Resurrect' and hit enter. The only problem is, resurrecting companions or creatures that are supposed to follow you sometimes creates a "bug" in the follow mode where they dont actually follow you. You'd have better luck reloading :)

seemingly bizarre result

Thanks for the responses. When it happened the first time I tried to the console cheat you suggested and it did not work. (I did have the cursor on the bear) While I was waiting for the responses I decided to solve the other 'stone' quests. I had upped the difficulty level to 70 since my character was about half that. All of a sudden the smurf's with an attitude(ricklings) were kicking my butt so I backed it down to 50. At 50 I activated the stone, then got attacked by random ricklings and then rested. When I approached the spot where the bear was, the ricklings were walking away and the Bear was fine. Once I dispatched the ricklings which was relatively easy because I came up behind them. Healed the bear as had been suggested previously. While I was moving back to the stone I lost the bear but the stone lit up anyway.
It was really strange at 70 I virtually had no chance to save the bear and at 50 it seemed to be a cake walk.

you need to start over the bear is dead and you cant complete the quest this happened to me alot on the goty version on the xbox.i had to restart that stone like 10 times before i finally figured out if i fly up high enough and i get my marksman skill up to 100 i can shoot all the ricklings away from the bear with out them hurting it.if you use a levitation spell to enchant a excusite balt and you use a grand soulgem with a golden saint in it you can do constant effect levitation and you wont fall out of the sky and you dont have a time limit.

yes, you do have to start over...and if he doesnt use marksmanship its gonna be pretty annoying getting it up high enough...i always felt like shooting myself while training marksman...

good bear and the reiklings

to do this quest right you must use a deadric bow with arrows of wastings flame. after you shoot the first riekling then you with have to use the most powerful sword that you own for me it was trueflame and hopesfire. then use telekinesis to pull the arrow out and then use the heal companion spell on the bear and the quest will be over
