lets say i don't use spells, only enchantments (so i really don't use magicka all that much). and i want to be an altimer. is that contradictory? what good, REALLY, is an altimer? they are weak but i like the way they look. i have the xbox version so mods are out of the question (which is a bummer). is there anyone who can relive my stress and tell me the best way to go about this.

I've found that the race does not really make much difference unless you specifically want a lot of magicka, so I tend to also just choose whichever one I like the look of. I find that the signs make more of a difference than the race.

Altmers are pretty weak early on if a non-magic user but once you start building up your stats you can make them so they are pretty good for any class.

If you want to play as an Altmer then my advice would just be to play as one and develop your skills so they make him/her effective. I've never really noticed the drawbacks from their weaknesses, at least not enough to stop me using them.

There are also certain items you can find that help to compensate for their weaknesses.

Thank you, that helps a lot. i was always afriad that because they have like 75% or 50% (i forget) weakness to somthing then it would mean that even if i level up and am really strong or intellegent or whatever, that those types of spells would still mess me up. you just gave me a boost of courage. i think i am going to start a new character.

thanks again.

And i'll try to make some enchanted items to support myself while i'm just starting.
