Not withouth you mentioning something about your party, level, equipment. Which fight is the problem, if you have tried buffing up fully, using summons and all that.

Otherwise, I doubt anybody can help you :)

I never kept track of their names so sue me. I've found focusing two fighters (I assume you have at least two people you'd call a fighter) on the man with the bow/ halberd, and taking out the one who casts priest spells near, what would be the bottom of the screen to help in taking care of that fight. I believe he has a mace and shield just to help varify who he is. The Doppleganger can be ignored to a degree for a while seeing as he a chump anyway... Probably next to kick the bucket is anyone casting spells. Flame arrow and Melf's acid arrow helped me out in the fight as well.

Chuck a few arrows or whatever you shoot, at anyone trying to get a spell off. This fight seems to be more about cooridinating. Maybe hang up some new walpaper, and plant a shrub, and play with the hampster.

I've always viewed this as one of the hardest fights of the game and end up winging it no matter what level I am. Ranging with your whole party doesn't seem to work out because of the accuracy of that man with the bow/halberd. If you've got a mage other than Xan try a lightning bolt or fireball. If all else fails summon an army of whatnots to distract the fighters and have at em...

Yeah....that fight frustrated me too:laugh: I almost punched my screen because of it. Be patient.

I usually cast Bless and Protection from Evil 10' on the party before going up the stairs. I have my fighters buff up with potions along with a Haste potion as well.

I usually keep my party together near the stairs and hammer the guy with the halberd and the priest guy. I send my strongest fighter to melee the halberd guy because he is deadly with his bow.

My thief sneaks off to backstab the mage with the dagger of venom and then disappears again to backstab the other guys.

Overall the battle goes pretty quickly and well for me now. When I first played it took me twice before I could win it and about 5 times before I had a good feeling from it. That is definitely a tough battle and is a good prep for the final battle.

Here's a nifty little trick I used to kill these chappys, not exactly the most noble thing to do but it gets the job done. Because you dont need to send your entire party up, what I found it rather useful to do was begin by sending my mage up one of the staircases, armed with a dandy selection of wands such as wands of fire, electricity and monster summoning, blast a fireball into them then send him straight back down the stairs before the nasty fellas have a chance to launch any serious attacks his way. Then move over to the other staircase, because all their attention will be drawn to the one you went up first, and repeat. Keep going back and forth until they are severely weakened, then send up your fighters and mow them down. Of course, if you get a tad bored of the old fireballs, you can vary the formula with a few lightening bolds, or by summoning some monsters up behind them you can draw their attention away from the staircases and give yourself more time, though you'll kill all your monsters, of course, with the fireballs and such. It's a tedious little method and, as I mentioned, a tad on the unchivalric side, but its a possible tactic nonetheless if you find it somewhat tough.

Area effect spells are your friend. If you have a slightly caster heavy party (more than 1 mage and 1 cleric, multis inclusive) it is extremely effective, have all of them cast a spell along the lines of:

-Skull Trap
-Stinking Cloud
-Smite Evil
-Fireball
-Glyph of Warding
-Confusion/Rigid Thinking/Hold Person

Make sure to keep your party well clear of the effects, take down spellcasters with ranged weapons (Kivan has fun) if they aren't already dead, it should be fine. This is one of those fights where a big opening attack can help you hugely.
After the original blast, you might want to summon some monsters to shield your party, focusing on ranged attack and enchantment or abjuration spells.

Iron Throne

I think I must do this the most boring way of all by the looks of it.

Just buy some "arrows of detonation" from the shop with the multi coloured roof. Then unlease 3 or 4 of those, with your mage chucking a fire ball in for good measure, if anything is left standing then just send your fighter in to clear up. No problem! The other suggestions are far more entertaining though.

What I did was send a Fighter to each of the Characters with any margin of goodness in combat (so Minsc, my main Character and Kivan, in my case), against their own fighters (So to the Cleric, Fighter and whatever was left that could fight), while Branwen went around healing everyone. I had Dynaheir and Imoen disrupt enemy mages and take them out with arrows, bullets and Magic Missiles/whatever, until the back up could arrive and chop their blocks off (this was in Baldur's Gate, not Tales of the Swordcoast).

You don't actually have to fight them at all. Take your thief into the back room and have him chat to the fellow there. All the oither replies are perfectly acceptable methods however. It's your choice.
