Disappearing plot items

Me again. Trundled all the way through Luskan and Tower to Beorunna's Well and only then noticed that the main character keeps dropping certain plot items when entering new (big) areas.
When entering Luskan items lost eg. Spirit poison + any henchmen contracts that were not with you as you enter.
When entering Beorunna's Well items lost eg. Imp's eye and Baram's head (not Kurth's hah!)
Yes, yes, these items are of no more use and why am I even carrying them (call me sentimental, maybe I like holding on to spare body parts
)...
But one of the items lost when going into Luskan is the amulet that Aarin gives you if you talk with him enough. the journal lists it as an item to hold on to if you want to chat with him further.
So how can I do that if I can't keep the soddin' thing?
So after all that, my question is: Is there any way to disable this 'random' dropping items function?
Cheerio

Its normal for it to get rid of non-useful items, but if it gets rid of any items you still need you could always use the console to spawn them back into the game. I'm not sure of the codes though but you could probably find them in the Toolset. I think the code to spawn an item is dm_spawnitem, but not entirely sure as its been a while since I used it.

Also make sure your game is patched. I recall some of the things you mention to be part of a patch years ago.
And check the Divine Wells (name?) in the churches which enables you to recover (some) lost quest items for a price.

Uh oh, can you give step by step instructions for the computerially-challenged on the Toolset thing-gummy (mr sir)?
Divine pools did not contain the amulet (xandax).
I'll look for a patch but reluctantly (I patched Dungeon Siege 2 and the whole thing froze, had to uninstall and install old one again, but that's another story)

Just click update on the opening menu when you first start NWN and it should automatically update with the latest official patches
As for the toolset, I'm not particularly an expert but if you don't mind waiting I'll see if I can find the codes for you when I get a chance.

Ok, I've found the code
Open the console and type the following, pressing enter after each line:
DebugMode 1
dm_spawnitem AARIN_AMULET
DebugMode 0
You may need to click on the ground near your character after typing the second line, I'm not sure as its been a long time since I used the codes.
The amulet should appear somewhere near to your character.

well color me embarrassed but what's a console and how do you open it?
(remember the bit about the computerially-challenged? I refuse to accept the term computer-illiterate, but I tread pretty close to the line)

Press ~ and it should open the console. If not then try ¬
The console is basically just a command line that lets you enter the cheats etc. and will appear in the top left corner of your screen. You may need to press the key to open it everytime you try to enter a command (so before typing each line in my above post).

Ah yes, the dreaded ~ sign...
(Tried that in Alice and managed to bring up to console at least, shame I couldn't make the codes work there)
However then I had an English keyboard and now a Finnish one, so while the ~is there...it does nothing to press it...
Sigh... the complicatedness of this all...
What say I'll try getting the patch and see if it helps?
If not then I'll just smash my keyboard and repaste the keys into a funny shape. Bad for the keyboard, good for my nerves.:mischief:
Thanks for going through the trouble, if all things fail I think you'll hear the bang.
Cheers

Hallelujah!
Ok, the patch solved the problem, even if at the first attempt the whole thing froze like DS2. Unlike DS2 however, this one sorted itself out after restarting the computer.
Unable to open console, I'll just have to play Luskan again.
Thank you very much for the help

Try this: instead of pressing the ~ key, use the chat-bar. That little, black bar above your quickslots can do the same as the console window, at least in my version. Just type:
##DebugMode=1 [hit enter]
##dm_spawnitem AARIN_AMULET [ move cursor to open spot on floor, hit enter]
##DebugMode=0 [hit enter]

Glad you got it sorted, even if you couldn't get he console to work
@Ningengirai, I keep forgetting you can do the same stuff using the talk bar

Excellent, the chatbar thing worked!!!
Managed to spawn the amulet and don't have to do Luskan again (I got much more interesting random cool weapons the first time around!).
Thank you, thank you, thank you

Where in the toolset do you find item codes? I've been looking without success, and really need to finish a quest with a nn exisatnt item
