[Spoiler] Jedi Training

I know this may sound funny but what I'm curious about is whether any story-related reason/s made you decide NOT to train one of the trainable characters in KOTORII.
Now, I know all about powergaming and getting the most out of every single character by saving levels until you can make them Jedis to maximize their potential but thats not what I'm talking about. I'm viewing this exclusively from a narrative point of view.
I for one chose to only train the Handmaiden (albeit by saving levels

) because I felt she was the only one with a valid backstory to actually explain why she could become a Jedi. I'm sure a lot of you won't agree, but I mean, what are the odds that out of 7 "randomly" encountered biological characters (5 actually since Kreia and Visas Marr are Jedis to begin with) 4 have the potential to become Jedis (that's a probability of 0.8!)
Now of course I understand that in the greater scheme of things exceptional characters have always converged when the fate of the universe is at stake ( even more so anyway in the Star Wars Universe

). But exceptional does not necessarily translate into Jedi. No one can deny that Han Solo, Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian or Padmé Naberrie are indeed exceptional characters who did make a difference in the (SW) universe, yet none of them where Jedis. So why not keep some of your companions as they are?

When I play light side, I tend to train every possible npc, but I see your point about how it really doesn't make sense for some of them to be jedi. I know it's been said before on this board that it seems really random for Mira to become a jedi, but that's the only one that doesn't totally make sense to me. Atton's backstory is all about redemption so I think it fits that he can be trained. Handmaiden and Disciple have equal (though somewhat less interesting) validity as trainable jedi.

I played LS but its a pity that I didn't manage to train all of them. I only chose 3 characters since I only managed to train Bao-Dur, Atton and the Handmaiden on my first run (never played KOTOR 2 again after that).

The first time I didn't train any. After that I trained all but Bao-Dur as I prefer leaving him untrained

I've only trained one before( Handmaiden) , but I'm working on training Atton. Which is impossible on my current game because I'm already on Malachor V.

I've done the game multiple times and I managed to turn all four to Jedi each time.

I usually play female, and so don't usually bother Jedifying Discple as it interrupts my preferred order of planets. If I'm LS, though (which isn't often) I do Jedify all of them.
That being said, I've ended up with Dark Mastery and all 4 characters Jedified before now, just to see if I could (I think you have to be male to manage this, as it simplifies your order of planets and the amount of time you have to gain influence with your sex-specific companion)

oh man i agree! it was such a pain to train them all. damn. but i did it just so i could prove that i could. but mostly i just jedify bao-dur and handmaiden (if im playing as a dude) then i just pump all the rest up with blaster feats and all that good stuff.
EDIT: i also find that mandolore is the best character in the game if you really want a tank. hes perfect for melee weapons and blasters. he is a very good tank if you level him right!

Agreed. Hanharr is even better. I tend to use those characters as my party for most fights. Especially good if your PC has a lot of skills and can make some of the top-end upgrades for melee weapons: melee weapons can do just as much damage as lightsabers if you build them right.

I don't think so. I never played Dark Side but from the many game guides I refer to, there is no mention of jedifying Hanharr.

Nope, you can't jedify Hanharr, but you break him into your service basically by being as mean to him as possible through conversation. Apparently conversing with Dark Side Exile lowers intelligence.

Yup, and he ends up with tattoos all over his face
There are a couple of things you can do which give you INF with Bao-Dur and don't give you LSPs. Get him to check your repairs to the bike on Naa Shaddaa, and get him to examine the atmospheric sensors on Dantooine.
Other than those two , everything else that gives him INF also gives you a LSP.

Yea right the ship isn't what I'd call a temple. More like the crappy one on Telos. Or maybe the destroyed one on Dantooine.
