How goes it?

I've got a human fighter, for old times sake, a elven mage(who I'm going to multi-class later, possibly. I think I should've started her as a fighter or something and went to mage afterwards, but no trouble...), half-elf ranger, dwarven cleric, halfling thief, human bard.

Playable? So far yes, I'm in the Vale Of Shadows. Will this party be monstrously difficult later on, however?

You have a cleric, an arcane spellcaster and a few warriors, so you have a solid base.
Your party is playable, an experienced player could solo the game with each of your characters.
But beginners will have a hard time.

You can only dualclass humans and multiclasses must be selected at the beginning.

About your elven mage:
It's better to start with a human fighter and dualclass after 3-7 levels for extra HP and weapon spcialisation. If you don't have HoW you should dualclass to conjurer instead for the extra spells, the bard can handle the item identifcation. With HoW I'd either dual to illusionist or pure mage.
Raise dead doesn't work on elves so you'll have to pay a lot to resurrect him in a temple unless you have a level 14 cleric.
But a pure mage for roleplaying reasons is playable.

I wouldn't take a pure thief in IWD, you'll have more than enough skill points and reach the maximum backstab multiplier far too soon. Thief's fighting abilities are crap, even worse than cleric's.
Multiclass with fighter for extra HP, better thac0, specialisation bonusses and more than 1 attack per round.
Even a fighter/mage/thief gets more thieving skill points than needed.

Since you don't even know the multiclassing rules you probably have distributed the stats badly.
