Yoshimo's fate (spoiler)

In the game, I dumped Yoshi when I got Jan in my party. I didn't really care about the XP I will get. I simply like Jan better. However, after I been through the Asylum and I come back to Copper Coronet, which was the place Yoshimo goes when you dump him.
When I entered, suddenly Yoshimo exploded and just died. I understand if you take him with you to the Asylum, you have to kill him. But why does he deserve to die if you didn't take him? I don't think this is realistic. HOw many times do you see your ex-party mates suddenly explode? Did the developers have some kind of explanation for this?

It was the geas spell. By not accompanying you to assure you reach Spellhold, Yoshimo violated his vows and thus was killed. Sure, you got to Spellhold anyway, but a geas spell doesn't give leeway.

Sorry, but there is no point of putting "spoiler" in the title if the title *is* the spoiler.

Sorry, but I was trying to make the topic specific. One question:
1) What is a gaes spell?

It's a powerfull spell in PnP(pen and paper) version of D&D.
Basicly you tell someone to do something and if he doesn't well he dies.

It is a spell cast by powerful mages on creatures to make them totally subservient. If they try and disobey the wishes of the mage, they go into acute pain and eventually die.

I have to agree: this spoiler warning isn't.

Thank you for letting me know. So I guess Irenicus cast the geas spell on Yoshimo huh? That's why he's right there in the dungeon.

I've changed the title of the post to keep Yoshimo's death out of it. That's the only edit I've made to your initial post, @Humanflyz, but please try to think things through like this in the future. Thanks.
