Ok i'm innocently playing BG2 when suddenly the screen goes...flourescent green. Really. What could be causing this? Is there a patch that would fix it? Please help me from this horrible horrible fate!

Is it only the game? Or if you exit to windows is it still the weird colour?

Could you be a bit more specific--

Can you still play after this happens?

Does it happen in only that location, or does it remain that way?

What happens when you leave the game and return to Windows?

What video card are you playing with?

Ok. I can still play the game but it seems like everything that was black (or close to black) goes green. It remains this way for awhile and then goes back to normal. Unfortunately this waiting period is about 30 minutes. When i go back to windows, everything returns to normal except at the bottom where the bg2 icon in the taskbar is. Everything black there (i think) in the bg2 symbol is green. I'm not sure what video card i'm playing with as i just got this laptop: a dell inspiron 2500

Sounds like a video card problem, Take it in for the warrenty and tell them the card is defective. they should swap out for ya, and most likely it sounds like the card is no longer generating the correct hex values for a color. You night also go into the game options configure graphics and drop down to 16 color or increase to 32 color, and see if its stable. if that fixes the problem, you might have a bad install.

ok i'm starting to think it's the video card though because it's spread to windows :( . I know it's not a virus cause i just scanned my whole hard drive

Yeah, sure sounds like the video card. It may just need a driver update, which you can probably find on the Web. Or, it could be memory related. Try a cold boot, and remove as much from your system tray as you can, before you play again.
