Hello. I am new to posting here, but I have been veiwing for some time. Can you help?
I have a level 10 Fighter Human Female who is about to go into Ulm. I have been there a few times before only to be slaughtered at the first battle. My sword is a Katana and I have the Elven Spirit Shield (So I'm CE) and full Imperial armour.
My stats are all at/above 33 (Excluding honour, 26) and I am wondering if I should try again to suceed in Ulm? Or should I continue training on Moonbeasts?

Thanks for your help ;)

hi

First I would suggest you to get your second tier classes before going to Ulm.I was about level 15 and had both second tier classes. So I suggest you should do the same. :D

Thank you for your reply.
I cannot at the moment choose a different class, because the Woman in the apothecary (Sisterhood) has closed her shop. And, of course, I am locked out of fargrove.

I think I usually go to Ulm around level 10 with just my tier 1 classes. Remember that you can use the fireplace in the main room in the middle of the fight to heal whenever you need it.

Ok, thanks everyone.
I'm still level 10 but all my stats are 41+ (Except honour 30 :D ) and I'm going to have another go at Ulm. Wish me luck! ;)

The first time thru the game I did everything underleveled and with low stats...but, I'm more in character building so I usually now get my stats up around 60+ (with exception to Honor, which is almost best left at base value) and get my 2nd tier classes. If a 2nd tier class can only be obtained east of Fargrove in the Skulldoon lands...I head to Skulldoon and rip on 50- 100 Minotaurs in the Arena. Also, you could head up to the Northern Steppes to fight Iceworms (~18k EXP, a piece) or those big beast mammoths that look like mutated overgrown bears (~18k EXP, a piece).

The two Rogue 2nd tier classes and the Budoka 2nd tier class can only be obtained west of Fargrove. So you have to do them before Fargrove closes itself from you (which Fargrove closes itself down if you go to the Venturean Forest or if you go to Lost Lake). Beat up on Minotaurs on Easy Mode with the Steal skill active for your Rogue...as you might run out of money if the Minotaur doesn't carry that huge Maul with him (worth +2000 gold pieces) when you fight him. That big Maul nets you some cash, from losing 500gp per fight with him.

I now fight the Trials and Ulm when I'm good and ready. Usually they are easy to finish when your above level 15. It really helps to boost Agility and Dexterity stats if you are not a heavy Mage user. As I love the clinging noises as enemies surround my character and have a harder time making contact. (They still hit me, but at least its not everytime). :)

P.S.:I hope you picked the option not to convict (accuse) House of Fathien of taking the Argalyia when you did the Trials...because if you did and don't have a save file from when you chose that option...you won't get the "Noble Herald" (+2 Strike, +2 Parry, +10%damage). {That was a stupid function in this game...as I was under the impression that there were no wrong answers in this game. I guess it really is a roleplaying game...where decisions count...who'd a thunk that?} ;)

You can go to Skulldoon after leaving Fargrove's west exit/entrance, but don't enter into Verulean Forest and don't go too far north (if you venture to Moonbeast Island by way of going North to Talendor then west to Moonbeast Island, Fargrove will close itself off from you until you have finished returning the Argalia to the Elf King). That's why I do Trickster/Hunter/Budoka 2nd tier class quests before I leave for Arindale.

A reminder if you choose to do a Sisterhood class tier next time for a new character, don't tell Evithra, the apocrathery shop lady, about the Samurai elf lady at the inn...this will cause her to kill her husband and close herself and her shop off from you until you finish finding her son at Castle Ulm. I usually prefer getting my Enchantress or Valkyrie 2nd tier classes available even before I do the Trial of the Elders. (And its not too hard to do. Just fight 50 or so Moonbeast (20k x 50 = 1,000,000 Exp/ADV-points) on (Difficulty Mode: Easy, Frequency Mode: Hard)...you'll have 2nd tier requirements met in no time flat. (1,000,000 ADV points is a nice sum, and usually enough to get both of your 2nd tier classes available...assuming you haven't picked to do Trickster, Hunter, or Budoka 2nd tier classes as they should be achieved by killing Minotaurs in the Skulldoon Arena.
