Just one Verdammit Minit (Spoilers)

OK, so I'm in the Nosferatu sewers, right? Been in here a few times. First few levels, muchos headrunners. I can deal. Normally, I just sneak up to them and pound them into hamburger. No big.

Normally, I'm in here with a sneak feat of about five.

With a sneak feat of five, typically, I can get about 8.5 centimeters from one of those things and actually start beating on it before it realises that I'm even there. I've done this gig wholesale and big-time. I know the drill.

Through an immensely (at least I think so) clever combination of stratagems, I'm in the sewers with a sneak feat of 8. By any reasonable logic, I should be all but invisible. I should be able to sneak up to a headrunner, give it a fat, sloppy kiss, stick a grenade up its butt, and be half a mile away before it realises it's been blown up. Done deal.

There's the problem. Those things see me coming a mile away. I'm always sneaking, but the very first headrunner jumped on me before I even saw it. This is sooooo not right. How is it that a high sneak feat somehow makes me more visible to these things? Frankly, I'm a bit spooked. These are just the headrunners, folk. What's going to happen with the fat-happy stompers, or the three-headed spiders?

Something is amiss here. Does anybody know what it is?

Oh, BTW, Official 1.2 patch.

I have never experiened using Sneak 5 working in the Sewers I would expect you would need a 8 or 9 at the least.
To make things worst the game wrongly allows Sabot enemies (including Heads) to see thrrough Obfuscate even level 5, it is so full of s*it.

So while you may have done it with Sneak 5 I never heard of that before and I never would think its possible.

thats strange cause i've used obfuscate in the warrens and none of the crations saw me when i walked righ in front of them (with obfuscate active). maybe it was a bug or something but it worked 4 me.

Really what version of the game are you using?
Official 1.2 and or any Unofficial patch?

Official 1.2 plain vanilla. No dressing. Honest.

I kinda had the same experience too.
With my Ventrue (stealth level 4), sneaked past all the creatures in the level 4 of the warrens easily, but with my Malkavian those nasty headrunners saw me even if I was invisible! I did past sneak past them after trying a couple of times though, and when they weren't looking ;)
Don't worry about the big ones though, they are not as annoying as the headrunners when it comes to sneaking! lol
By the way, my Ventrue was almost invisible everywhere she went, although the stealth level was never higher than 4.

Maybe the Sabbat creatures are able to detect vampiric disciplines in use but normal stealth works fine on them?

That may be the case!
Apparently, a high level of stealth makes the character virtually invisible, so I guess depending on stealth will be better than depending on Obfuscate, unless all the opponents are humans.

Exactly! Ofuscate is excllent for missions like the warehouse in Santa Monica, or the musuem downtown, or getting past all the human guards in LaCroix's tower. But when your enemies are supernatural, Obfuscate tends to fail.

If you want to be ultra-conservative with your xp, just put points into stealth and ignore Obfuscate. Stealth works on everything.

Myself, I put points into both when I can. Stealth is great and all, but you have to remain crouched and stick to the shadows which makes things slow going. If there's nothing but humans around, I'd rather throw up Obfuscate 5 and run around committing murder and mayhem all while remaining invisible.

Funny thing is I notice Obfuscate causes Sneak to fail sometimes when it normally would not.
Since I only notice for the most part Obfuscate fails [incorrectly] on Sabot (actually it fails on the Nossie you can save in the sewers too), its seems that if you are Sneaking with Obfuscate on [cause I know Obfuscate will fail in certian areas] and your Obfuscate fails it will cause you to be seen where you shouldn't be since your Sneaking.
