what happens if you take it to the surface???
i didn't but i started thinking what would happen. i dont have any save before that so can anyone tell me what happens.

BTW how can you keep the drow items after you leave their city (i read it in a post about 2 months ago but cant find it now)

This is pure cheese, but here is how you keep your Drow items:
You put them all on one character (say in a bag of holding), and then you dismiss that character and tell them to meet you at 'X' (usually the copper coronet) [This works well with Minsc.] You then meet with the elves with your reduced party and go directly to the Copper Coronet.
When you pick up Minsc again, the drow items in the bag of holding will be intact. Put them on and you are ready to go.
