I couldn't edit the thread title to say "spoiler", so problem is now in black; please help me!

Are liches supposed to resurrect themselves? I apologize if this sounds stupid but I haven't fought any until now...

I recently started the Kangaxx subquest and have gone to the first sarcoughagus in the Temple sewers... Killing it is difficult enough but right after the bottom tab reads: X did n damage, then Shade Lich - death, the lich returns out of nowhere with all hit points recovered and continues attacking. What's going on?

Here's what happened. The lich played a trick on you (as many spellcasters try to do). The lich used a spell to make himself invisible and create an illusionary duplicate of himself. (He used the 6th Level Wizard spell called Mislead.) You attacked the illusion because you couldn't see the lich. When you reduced the illusion to 0 hit points, it disappeared, and you could see the lich again. At that point, you could attack the lich again.

It is a bit confusing since the game reported that you killed the lich, but that was a false report. This is all perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. The great thing about Mislead is that liches aren't the only characters who can cast it--your own Mage, Bard, or Sorcerer can also use it. As you saw with your own eyes, it's very effective.

Try using a spell like True Sight or True Seeing the next time you see a lich or other spellcaster cast a spell such as Mislead--the game actually tells you when an enemy casts Mislead, which gives away the surprise if you know what's going on.

Errrm, LordTerror, the original poster was clearly talking about the Shade Lich and also stated that she hadn't faced Lichs before. You let a rather big spoiler out there with no warning.
