I'm playing on xBox(I prefer it for these types of games) and I'm on Manaan down in the rift.

I've wandered around seemingly endlessly and can't find a way to progress.

So I went to a walkthrough to see what I've missed. Turns out that the best case is for me to bash that force field.

Here's where I'm stupid. I didn't even realize you could bash something. I have no idea how to do this.

Can anyone please enlighten me on how to go about this?

Which force field? You mean the one the 2 scientists are behind when they try and kill you using pressure? You don't need to bash this one (if that's the case), but there's a control panel in the corner of the room that will shut down the pressure system.

But, to bash anything in the game that is bashable, click on it using the left or right triggers, and down in the lower left where your "tool bar" is, you should be able to cycle the first icon up and down, from "use" to "attack", which will initiate your character into attack mode and knock it down.

Wait till you play KOTOR II... =)

I wonder if there is some sort of glitch in my game. I haven't been given that option, even when I was trying to open a footlocker that I couldnt' get open. I was dumb enough to not bring anyone with a decent security skill at that particular moment.

Also, they haven't tried to kill me. They just stand there on the other side of the field and look like idiots. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong.

Don't worry I didn't know that you could bash things until my second time through! But when you find an item that is bashable like a footlooker, there will be a set of arrows( one set horizontally, one set vertically) in the first box thing in the bottom of your screen. It will say open, "scroll" up one and it will say bash.

Wierd, something doesn't sound right. Wait...try initiating dialogue with them. Stand as close as you can, use the left or right trigger to put the circle on them, and hit "A". That should do it.
