If you experience any problems please post them here, so they can be addressed. :)

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines unofficial patch 3.0
---------------------------------------------------------

This is an unofficial patch for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines by Troika Games. It's a cumulative patch containing all the previous patches and works best for english retail and Direct2Drive versions!

Applying this patch to a version in another language should work ok, but all ingame texts previously appearing in that language should be replaced by their english originals with the exception of the menus.

To install the patch extract this archive into the game folder while keeping the directory structure intact and backup all files that are overwritten if you want to remove it later. Alternatively reinstall.

This patch attempts to fix many bugs and improve other things but no guarantees are made, since not everything could be tested. It can be installed easily on top of the official 1.2 patch from Troika Games.

The more basic changes are listed at the top of the version history, then bug fixes and more. It is recommended to start a new game after patching to avoid odd behaviour, but updating between hubs may work.

Because of the restoration of the histories the patch comes with the original config.cfg, so change all the options to your liking again. If you get problems with the histories in the tutorial just skip it!

v3.0

Darkened Beckett's glasses and fixed some others, thanks to MooCHa.

Hi
I have a problem after I loaded this patch
I have retrieved the pendant from the hotel to return to Theresa.
I get back to the asylum and Jeanette is upstairs.
However, as soon as I try to talk to her, The game crashes back to the desktop straight away. Happens every time.
Any ideas?

Do you have the Official 1.2 patch installed?
What video card and drvier version are you using?
Anything unusual in your quest log?

Hi
yes I have 1.2 installed, and also all the other patches
I sortof of solved the problem with this work around.
Copied my saved games into my 'vampireold' folder. (I renamed 'vampire' to 'vampireold' before installing this patch (3.0)
Renamed vampire to vampirenew
renamed vampireold to vampire.
Basically rolling back to the patch before this one, but with my latest saved games in.

I then restarted the game and loaded my saved game. This time it didnt hang when talking to Jeanette.BUT the lift didnt work, so I couldnt get out afterwards.
So I went back to the version 3.0 patch by renaming the folders and loading the saved game(ie when Im trying to get the lift to work). And this time the lift worked and I havent had any problems so far with the rest of the game.

I have a nvidia 7800GTX with latest drivers.

Ahh so you orginally used an old Save game from another version after upgrading to 3.0 and then reverted back, if I understand correctly.

Ok you might want to read the Unofficial patch, Tips and Tricks in the Readme cause specificly odd problems can occur if you use old Save games with different version of the Unofficial patch.

Anyway glad you got it going again. :)

Found out playing as a Malk...

...even with a Persuade of 5 I could not get the Sisters to reconcile. (This was a new, patched game.)

That is because any earlier dialogue with both of them matters. If you pissed off one of them there, you won't be able to get them to reconcile.

Yeah this is one of the reasons I have never tried the unofficial patch. Too many unnecessary changes, some based off pure bias. For instance, I dislike the nerfed the jaimie Sue (which was really cool with 10 ranged). And besides, I risk new bugs or instability as it is official.

Anyone want to persuade me otherwise feel free.

Personally, I agree. I remain 1.2 official, un-changed. There will be no more official patches, and I resign myself to that fate, but unofficial patchers, while their efforts are in no way unappreciated, tend to fix things that never required fixing, I think more to re-make the game to their own liking.

That's not a 'patch'. A 'patch' is supposed to fix bugs. It's purpose is not to tweak the game in directions that the original designers never intended. That would be more like an 'add-on'.

I obey the oldest rule: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

An excellent point, and there are some things in the unofficial patches I don't approve of. However, many bugs have been fixed, my game's overall performance has improved in some areas, and my enjoyment of the game has increased. For those reasons, I keep using the unofficial patches.

Having persuasion higher than 4 is irrelevant. You could have persuasion 10 and it wouldn't make an once of difference. Along with pleasing both Therese and Jeanette, Persuaion 4 is all that is required.

Thanks to Wesp and his team, the reconciliation of the Voerman sisters now works the way it was always supposed to. In the original game, and with 1.2, there were conditions for reconciliation that were flat out ignored due to a bug in the game's text parser. Because of this, you could be as rude and disrespectful to either sister as you wanted to be, but as long as you had a Persuasion of 4 or better, you could still reconcile them in the end. Now, you actually have to appease both sisters in order to get them to listen to you. This is how it was always supposed to work. It's a bug that has been fixed.

If you want to reconcile them now, it's really not that hard. Just use common sense and tell them what they want to hear.

Do need the 1.2 patch to use 3.0 unofficial patch? Not sure If i have patched the game, I think it works OK without it (except SoL which the patch doesen't fix anyway).
