General DL Questions

Post by dcinroc »

As far as I can tell, Weapon/Armor Skills have no effect other than being a minimum requirement. Is this true?

Is there any point in buying Scouting, since I always use the Vision spell anyway?

How does the Alchemy skill work?

Damage Bonus = St - 25, correct?

Influence = Honor/2?

You've likely picked up all kinds of items and ingredients. Right clicking on an ingredient brings up a spell menu where you can combine things to create spells. The walkthrough page has formulas.

Of course. I know how Nether magic works, but I don't need Alchemy for that...so what is Alchemy for? Does it grant you extra katals when you pick them up?

I think your right on the armor/weapons skill level, it's only a requirement.

Yep.

-You always have Mystic Vision running?
-For me, I just memorized the game maps...after playing dozens of characters.
-I enjoy a Scout of 5 for the maximum for most of my characters.
-If you get Hunter and Rangerlord classes, 10 in Scout is requirement...and 10 in scout is a pretty nice thing.

-It seems like its not really all that great. By the time you get it for one of your 2nd tier classes its kind of too late.
-By the time you get Alchemy as an available skill, your Honor and Bargain stats should be high enough to easily buy ingredients/spells. Plus, 2nd tiers don't get a "Learning Bonus" in Alchemy...so it can somewhat taxing to raise this skill.
-Also, Alchemy doesn't guarentee you extra katal pieces. When I had my Alchemy up to 5, I got anywhere from 0-2 extra pieces.
-Aestically speaking, it was a nice touch to make this Alchemy skill...but, effectively and speaking for efficiency...the Alchemy skill SUCKED BIG TIME.

Yes. And its a percentage...not a raw number. EX: Strength 26= 1% extra damage off of your base weapon damage. (But, you probably already knew this).
dcinroc wrote:Influence = Honor/2?
Yep. With a Bargain of 4, and Honor of 30...you pretty much can buy and sell at the same price. Lame, but...that's how HP made this game.
