Suggestions for a "X-COM: UFO Defense" replacement?

Well, in a previous thread, I did find a sufficient replacement for Master of Magic in the Age of Wonder series.

Unfortunately, my question on what to replace X-COM with was unanswered.

From what I've heard the somewhat recent "UFO: Aftermath" was pretty lackluster. Anybody got any suggestions?

Oh, and just for the record, this is what I'm looking for in the line of gameplay:
- Turn-Based Strategy (TBS)
- Squad-based Gameplay
- Base building, including Research (to discover new items), Manufacturing/Engineering (to make weapons, armor, and vehicles), etc
- Destroying aliens

Also, here are the systems I play on:
- My PC (Windows XP and current highest-lvl DirectX installed)
- Playstation 2
- Gameboy Color

So, any ideas?

you could try the modern clones ufo: aftermath and aftershock. aftershock (the more recent one) is definitely the better game, but a bit buggy and it gets rather repetetive and the difficulty is a little uneven. there are some mods out there to flesh out the tech tree, but the lack of many of the base management features from x-com and the weak combat still make it feel a little insipid.

Ya can try "X-Com : Terror from the Deep" but I think it's kind hard to find since the X-Com series especiallt UFO defence & Terror from the Deep is considered classic now.

The X-Com saga are as follows :
1. X-Com : UFO Defense - in Europe IIRC it's called UFO Enemy Unknown
The initial saga.
2. X-Com : Terror from The Deep
The Saga continue with deep sea as battle stage :D
3. X-Com : UFO : Aftermath
This one slightly odd but I give it "Playable" rating
4. X-Com : Enforcer
Haven't play it - thanks to my ex-freaking Jap bosses!

Others...I have no idea. Hope that helps :)

don't anyone mention x-com enforcer again. it is probably the best illustration I know of how to use an established brand to spew forth astronomically shoddy cash-in titles.

Forgot to mention that I had "Terror from the Deep". Got that and "X-COM: UFO Defense" as part of a joint package of sorts back in the day.

Aftershock sounds like the best bet at this point.
