Several questions..

1. Do you get the class abilities even if you dual? i.e, you're a kensai/mage and when you get to ToB, will whirlwind be available to you?

2. How do you determine backstab damage? When do you add the bonuses from STR and items and proficiencies and so on, before or after applying the backstab modifier?

3. If you're a mage, and drinking potion of genius to raise your intelligence, do you get more spell slots? I do this all the time, but it doesn't seem to make a difference, I think.

4. Does wisdom affect wizards in any way? (except for limited wish.) I mean, in the manual the higher your wisdom is, % of spell failure decreases.

5. When I use Vhailor's helm, the effect fails due to magic resistance. What's going on??

6. Minsc. I don't know, but his has proficiencies in two-handed sword and two weapon style. Is he nuts? What should I equip him with?

7. At Brynnlaw, how do you talk to the chef and get the quest? When I go into the kitchen, he goes "eek" or something and leaves the room.

8. The spellhold experince exploit. They say if you talk to the pirate lord, let the game auto-save, and talk to him again, you can get infinite exp points. But this doesn't seem to be the case - my auto-save is within the asylum. Do you have to have Yoshimo in your party?

9. At the Sanguhain city, where is the priest that buys and sells stuff? There's the infinite gold exploit with him (or her) but I can't find the right fish.

10. Will your cloak of reflection reflect spells like symbol, fear or disintegrate or feeblemind and so on? How about spell deflection? Don't they only reflect spells like magic missile??
Thanks!!

1) No

2) Before apply backstab modifier

3) Intelligence affects maximum known spells, not spell slots.

4) The spell failure is for clerics regarding wisdom. Wisdom of 16 and above improves saving throws.

5) Buggy

6) Rangers automatically get two points in two-weapon style.

7) What chef?

8) dunno

9) To the left of the sacrificial altar

10) With ToB, it only affects direct damage attacks, like magic missle and beholder rays.

1. When you dual class, you receive the attributes from the first class once you are one level higher in the second class than the first class.

2. weapon damage + str + weapon bonus + proficieny/specialization bonus X backstab modifier + elemental damage. (I think)

3. Raising intelligence will raise your percentage of being able to copy a scroll to your spellbook. It will also increase the total number of spells by level you may have in your spellbook, not the number you can memorize.

4. You said it first.

5. Perhaps that is the answer. I've never had much success with that item myself.

6. All rangers start out with two ++ in two weapon style. They just do. I'd recommend lilarcor for starters with minsc. Berserking ability with two maces is just lethal.

7. No idea.

8. No idea. I'd stay away from an infinite experience point loop myself but that's just me.

9. I believe the preist you are referring to is on the temple steps right outside the king's room but I don't know much about an inifinite gold loop. Isn't there already enough cash to go around?

10. The cloak of reflection and spell deflection should repel any spell which targets the user/caster. I don't remember if the cloak of reflection actually works like spell turning.

Hope this helps

The chance for the spell failure ability is not programmed into BG. We know this because Minsc (Wis 6) can cast spells without failure.
With Minsc, use two handed swords to begin with, but once you get more proficiency slots, start putting *s in one handed weapons.
By the end of ToB in my party minsc could use maces, flails, hammers and axes. He had been dual weilding since he had two points in flails, with Flail of ages and The Sleeper. Wyvern's tail would work too.
You never actually use the Chef in that quest. The quest may have been cut short, just kill the guards and go in and confront the woman and her mage.
The Old cloak of Reflection would not reflect symbols or enchantments.

Questions that haven't been fully answered yet:

7) The cook script is bugged - you can talk to the "woman of low morals" and get the sleeping draught, but the cook will still run off. It doesn't really matter, and it cuts off yet another of these "infinite XP" exploits you are so keen on.

8) Bioware fixed this in a patch, so that the autosave now happens when you get to the asylum, rather than in the room with Desharik. Again, no more XP for you, buddy. :p

Contrary to previous posts, Wisdom saving throw modifiers were not implemented... You get a bit of Lore and some extra Limited Wishes, that is all.

It is indeed bugged. Baldurdash has the patch. I use it all the time without problems. :)

Cloak before ToB: Bounces back all damage from spells, including area spells. Does not affect any spell that does not deal damage.

Cloak with ToB: Absorbs instead of bouncing. Probably works the same in all other respects (can't verify).

(Minor) Spell Turning: Bounces back all spells that target you alone. No area spells. Breach and Lower Resistance are exceptions. Same goes for (Minor) Spell Deflection and Spell Trap (only they don't bounce, of course).

7. you need to talk to the prostitue that gets you in about something (forgoten what) and she tells you to aks the cook about a sleeping potion. there is a bug where, when you complete the quest, you can talk to her and get 2250XP infinite times
