I defragged my hard drive yesterday, and now the game is running so choppy I can't even play? Is there a solution, or do I have to reinstall? If I reinstall, will I still have save games?

Before reinstalling, do you have any other new programs you have installed that are running in the background? Also, have you tried removing any spyware/adware on your pc?

If you do need to reinstall then you should be able to keep your saves by going into the program folder and copying the save folder to somewhere like my documents. Once you have reinstalled, just copy it back again.

Could just be that the game cache files were moved during defragmentation. If so, it may take a little while before the game "recognizes" where they currently are, and things speed up again.

So, I can keep playing and maybe it will get up to speed soon? I tried restarting a few times, but to no avail.

It's just a suggestion, but I think you'll find that it will speed back up. And in any case, if it doesn't with a few hours' play, you can always save and uninstall, without losing anything.

A few hours?? :speech: Can you walk me through the uninstall/reinstall with keeping my save games?? Please?

All I can suggest is that you click and drag your save game directory/files to another part of your hard drive, and then do an uninstall. When you reinstall, you move the directory/files back.

But don't do that until you first try playing for a while, and see if the speed goes back to normal.

I usually move my save folder to either my desktop or my documents, just so I know where they are when I want to move them back.
