Glitch, or am i in trouble?

Hey... so ive been playing fable for a while and im done with Rescue Scarlet Robe. After a recuded her i did a few side quests. Now, when i go to the ancient cullis gate, the skeletons dont pop up, and i cant activate the gate.
Does anyone know what is going on? Am i going to have to start the game over?
