Hi everyone
I'm thinking about starting a new character because the game is too simple with my Nord Fighter. I was thinking of making a Altmer Swordmaster. Specialication i combat wielding a greatsword an wearing medium armour. I think the character is inspired a lot by the Swordmasters in the boardgame warhammer.
My question is; would this be complete suicide and boring to play or does anyone have good experience with this sort of character. Any good ideas is welcome. And what do you think, from a roleplaying point of view, woluld be good skills to chose?

if you want to use altmers as a swordmaster, atleast have some magick in the background so you can do pretty good damage while waiting for your long blade levels to go up, id suggest alchemy too, and maybe light armour instead of medium since altmers arent very strong...you definetly want acrobatics and athletics as minor or major skills because omg...even having both as majors you're going about the same speed as if you were over-encumbered:laugh:

if i would suggest a character, it would be long blade/medium armour redguard(i usually use heavy or light armour but you wanted medium) since the redguard gets +15 long blade and +5 or 10 to medium armour...

but anyways, good luck with your new character :D

If you want a less easy and more interesting game I'd suggest making a non-melee character. A sneak- or magicbased character makes for an entirely different game. Even more so if you stick to less obvious skills.

I would agree with that, my experience is that melee characters will eventually become strong enough that the game won't provide much of a challenge...although that may depend on your playing style as well.

I agree with you - but IMHO it'll only be interesting in the earlier stages of the game. After all, if you swing a long sword often enough, you'll eventually be proficient with it no matter what race you are/what starting points you have.
I realise that High Elves have quite a few weaknesses but they'll almost automatically be compensated by wearing armor. Of course you don't have to wear armor :) I played an Unarmored fighter once (you'd have to install the Dodge mod or something similar) and that was interesting for a few levels - mainly because I had Combat Enhanced installed as well. I gave up on my fighter after level 15 or so and went back to a more fun stealth/magicka based pc.

Thanks for all the response
I made the character. He ended up specialising in long blades, medium armour, light armour and some protective magic. As minor skills I chose some magic skills as I think this fists in with the Altmer background. I did not chose Destruction or marksman at all as I think this would make him too strong. Now we have to see. I've just started, and even mudcrabs and the first quest in the imperial legion required some reloads...
