Thought I'd just start a post for different, ingenious, fun strategy's etc. ie: as a expansion to the "Why didn't I discover this earlier" thread, how we gamers, after soo many time doing the game can still come across new stratagies never before considered by ourselves.
BG Formula No1: Anyone can kill anything with the proper stategy.
My one from the other night was my Lvl6/10 Beserker/mage killing pebblecrusher, the berserker singlehandedly with no spells...
...My current PC, as stated above is trying to be a fighting mage, he dual-weilds, wears armour and fights, so here's what happened.
1st: spell buffs... 2xBlur,Mirror Image, Protection from normal weapons, stoneskin, Haste, Rage ability and DUHM with fireshield
Replace armour and attack Pebble with +1Katana and +1Longsword wearing the best armour he had at the time (Mail of the Dead +2)
With the buffs he had about -10AC, THACO of around 6/8 and 5/2 attacks per round before haste.
The first go he killed everyone bar the mage (Miss J's summoned dogs took care of him, and Miss J was the only NPC I had at the time) and he was on his way to kill Pooky when the stupid imp spell-killed him, but the reload worked, but all the buffs were gone by the time the Berserker and Pebbleboy died.
And I was like: Sucked in you fighter scum, you just got butchered by a mage, and in armour to boot.
So if anyone has they're unexpected strategies please post them.
Also, as a side note, what does eveyone think: it's easier to fight solo than with a group, because I found it was easier to take care of 1 individual than to fight with 6 and not have any casualties, (a good [well maybe not] example of this is the Twisted rune, it was easier to kill them (except the Vamp) when I was soloing my Sorceror than with a group) any comments...

I can give you the cheese strategy I used to take them out. Cast Web twice then cast as many cloudkills as you can or, if you don't have the spell, use the wand. If you have Yoshimo or are a thief you can also trap the door to the room and other places. Just lure them to your traps. Of course if you want a stand-up fight you're going to need some better armor and a couple more levels. Pebblecrusher is especially tough, and you'll want to backstab the mage to death before he can cast a lot of spells. In non-cheesy strategy I had my bounty hunter and Yoshimo both take potions of Invisibility (after the dialogue in which I was all humble, mumble, chumble so the fight wouldn't start immediately). I positioned Yoshimo behind Pooky and my bounty hunter lead behind the mage. Yoshimo backstabbed Pooky (who died) and I backstabbed the mage (who died). Make sure your cleric or whatever has lots of dispel invisibilities or, if you're high enough level True Seeing. Otherwise, Brennan will take a potion of invisibility and backstab your mage, your cleric, & your main character (if your main is a spellcaster, he will go for you first). Have your fighters close in on Pebblecrusher and whats-his-face, the Berzerker, and melee. The rest of your party should use ranged weapons or spells on these two as they can hit the poorly armored quite easily.
Hope this helps!

Really, Pooky is the most dangerous thing in that room! He has several of those nasty save-or-else area enchantments. At the beginning of the game, these spells are murder on your party. The Mage has really lousy spell selection, the rest is just a bunch of dumb sword swingers. I'd rather fight a dozen Mencars any day than a couple of Pookys.
One of the best tactics in this or any battle (though it has a distict Limburger scent) is to withdraw the party to another area (downstairs in this case) at some point (preferably after a kill). That way, the baddies will come after you one at a time, if ever (and if they don't, you can rest and try and kill another one).

I had my solo beastmaster lure them downstairs so the the Amish guard would help me kill them. I ran around while arrows came out of nowhere and hit them. When they got down to Near Death I turned on them to get the exp.
