Need help with Sorcerer problem

My stats are S16, D18, Con14, I8, W14, Cha10, unmodified. I am aiming for Arcane Archer, so started out with 6 levels of Ranger, then switched to Sorcerer. After picking up one level of Sorcerer I was unable to use any level 1 spells, (a requirement for Arcane Archer) although I had access to Cantrips. The manual says I should have access to 4 or 5 lvl 1 spells, but I thought I'd wait another level. Picked up 2nd level Sorcerer, and still no lvl 1 spells! I know that Sorcerer spells are dependent on Cha and not Int, and I have the minimum level of Cha to use the spells. The spell book should look like the Ranger spell book, but all I get is one blank page for level one, with no chance at selecting spells.
It may be something simple, keeping in mind I've never played a spellcasting character outside of the original D&D. SO what the heck's going on? tia

Sorcerer's, like all spellcasters rely on an ability score to cast spells. You need a minimum of 10 + the spell level in charisma in order to be able to cast sorcerer spells, meaning since you only have a 10 charisma, you can only use 0th level spells. If you had a 14 charisma, you could potentially get up to 4th level spells with a sorcerer.
If you got a saved game, you might wanna backtrack before you took the sorc levels and instead take wizard, as Wizard will also get you arcane archer just the same, and it relies on intelligence rather than charisma (which you have plenty of intelligence)

Nope...he has Intelligence 8, meaning he gets no spells too.
Btw...you should allready be able to progress to Arcane Archer with a Ranger Level 6, cause a Ranger is able to cast 1st Level spells from Level 6 on ( using Wisdom as Clerics or Druids ).
Hmm...just took a look at my D&D stuff again....you need 1st level arcane spells, a Ranger gets druidic/clerical spells. That means, nope you can forget your arcane Archer with your current Character.

Ahh, misread on the wizard thing. And yeah, Rangers cannot get into arcane archer alone (Though they are great choices to combine with wizard/sorc to get in, VERY good combinations)

Yes, I actually had that problem in NWN, thinking a Ranger would get me in, until I read the fine print. And magical enhancements to abilities don't count, darn it (such as a Nymph Cloak). Well, don't wanna start over (stubborn), so I'll just take 4 more levels of Ranger, then up my Charisma by 1 and, voila, I be ready for a Arcane Archer. Thanks for the info!
Man, you know what really ticks me off? That chart on pg. 16 of the manual, ability score modifiers! It shows an ability score of 1-9 tied to that character's spell casting won't allow spells! That led me to believe that CHA 10 would let me cast 1st level Sorcerer spells... but it is a case of semantics, where they are really referring to the Cantrips, which I would hardly consider. If they are considering them, then THAT should have been the minimum requirement for an Arcane Archer. I don't think they should have played this little detective puzzle game, making the player figure this out, and getting screwed way after the fact. I mean, I figured out the requirements for Arcane Archer, figured out that a Sorcerer's spells were CHA based, and planned out all my abilities accordingly. It feels like I got screwed for only going to ZEN level four, instead of six, sheesh!
Of course, whaddaya expect, with an Intelligence of 8...

There is one important thing I'd like to add to this. There is a feat that lets you use your Wisdom instead of Dex when hitting target with ranged attacks, not unlike the weapon finesse feat that switches Dex for Strength. It's called Zen Archery, I think.. or maybe Ki Archery. There are some requirements though to get it, you'll have to look those up yourself in the manual. Either way, there is a huge advantage to be gained there for Druids.
Edit: I think you already said something in that direction. Never mind.
