Which module would you like to see turned into the next RPG from Black Isle?

Now that the Baldur's Gate saga is at a close, where do we go from here. Many great AD&D modules could serve as outlines for a RPG -which ones would be the best? How about Ravenloft II (I10) -that was an amazing campaign, complex and challenging. Which ones would you suggest? I think a lot of time and effort should be put into characterization, romance, subplots, etc. These are my favorite things about complex RPG games.

I liked the first edition Desert of Desolation series (Pharaoh, Oasis of the White Palm, & the Lost Tomb of Martek) by Tracy Hickman (Dragonlance books) & others. These were great campaigns filled with cool traps, cunning puzzles, interesting background stories, et al. Of course, I also liked the "S" series of pre-fab campaigns (Tomb of Horrors, White Plume Mountain, Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, & The Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth) for high-level gaming. The Man himself (Gary Gygax) did all of these except White Plume which was by Lawrence Shick. :D

I think that the Baldurs Gate series should be continued, after all at the end of Tob you are not yet at "God status" as quoted by many previews. Another game should be made on how you become a god and even challange Bhaal himself, a bit like Diablo with some magical creatures that never made it into the Baldurs Gate series like, Griffins, Gorgons, Devils, Titans, Giant snakes, spectors, cenataurs etc. There could be another Time of troubles where all the evil gods Talos, Bane, Bhaal, Cyric etc try to take over the realms, the storyline could be moved away from the sword coast, in Thay Kara-Tur or in Minsc's land of Rasheman.

That kind of makes sense, but how powerfull do you think will the characters be then, they are already at the damn GOD like status. Hmmmmm... lvl 65 Sorceror. Mwhahahahahaha God what the hell I am so lame.

I think a cool idea (but possibly too similar in scope to TOB-I haven't played it yet) might a relatively high level campaign on the Realms based in Myth Drannor and the surrounding regions with a significant portion involving a trip back in time to the arcane age at the time of the fall of Myth Drannor and the other mythals e.g. when that other elven city (name?...?Halruaa???) bacame Anauroch.

That could be fun :D

i'd like to see another take on the dark sun world.

the s series would be really cool.

and they could always drudge up "the bloodstone pass" series for all those who thought tob was too easy.

Other cool adventures included "The Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh" and "Chateau D'Ambervilles" (if anyone remembers that one). Nice storylines and good atmosphere (kind of Lovecraftian). Lost Tomb of Martek was really cool. "Expedition to the Barrier Peaks"?

I heard that someone was developing a superhero turn based game like Champions. If done right that could be fun.

Heh, they already did a Gamma World game..... Fallout 1&2, a gamma campaign in all but name. ( Think about it! ). :D

I personally would like to see a game based on the WOT series, and you could be, like, Rand, or an Aes Sadai, or a Warder, or an Aeil, or Child of Light. The possibilities are endless. Actually, I think I remember seeing something about a Module for WOT for 3rd Edition. Anybody else hear about this??

While I agree that a campaign based on the Wheel Of Time would be nice, but then again I am a WOT fanatic (whens that next book coming out)

However I believe that the main strength of Baldurs is the storyline that is specific to the game. It is not therefore based on the storyline of any particular book. It is not therefore straightjacketed to conform to the plot line of any given story. A game based on WOT or Lord of the Rings or any other popular fantasy would not have the freedom to take the plot to any desired end and the character within the game/book would also have there hands tied as to what different choices they can make.

So as a conclusion I believe that Black Isle are better off doing what they are at present with BG and IWD where they use a pre-written world senario (forgotten realms or wherever) and build their own story in that world.

On a quick final note in reply in Agonar's final query about a WOT ADnD scenario, I believe that Wizards of the Coast are brigging out a WOT scenario book set in the third quarter of this year. How good it will be well we'll just have to wait and see

The only problem with a WOT CRPG is that it will probably take as long to play it as does to read it, and nobody has THAT much free time. Not that there isn't a great precedent for a book based game. Ya'll remember Betrayal at Krondor?
And the Fallout games aren't even close to Gamma World IMO of course.

How is that no one has mentioned the greatest continuous AD&D campaign: Dragonlance!

Maybe have the game revolve around some of the side plots during the War of the Lance (like the Kharas's Hammer quest in Thorbardin) or some of the military maneuvering in Solamnia in the middle and later stages of the war.

I loved Castle Amber! I had a great time running characters through that module. It especially worked well with the two Extension Mods that TSR put out based on "Alice in Wonderland" & "Through the Looking Glass", "Dungeonland" (EX1) and "Land Beyond the Magic Mirror" (EX2).

Is the Baldur's Gate series totally made up by Bioware (or Black Isle or whatever)? I really liked the story in the final two (sadly, I've never played BG1) and if they can write something like that, my vote goes to a whole new story line.
