Problems with using console commands

I am attempting to toy around with the item crafting feats, and don't want to go through the game repeatedly in order to test out the new method of creation. Spending 100+ hours playing the game over and over in an attempt to get enough gold and such to test it out isn't something I have time for. So, I wanted to use the console to spawn the gold I would need to do this after I bring my character to the proper levels necessary and find the items needed in game.

However, the problem is that I cannot for the life of me get the console to spawn gold. I can make it add feats or XP to my characters no problem, so I know how to use the commands. I type them in perfect, there is no "Invalid command" response when I do it. However, the command

"dm_givegold" is not giving me anything when I attempt it. When I attempt to put the number of coins I want inside brackets or quotation marks it gives me the invalid command response. Simply putting dm_givegold 1000 garners a clear entry, but no in game results. The same for increasing attributes, nothing changes in game, but I am not getting an error response.

Does anyone have any clue why given that I can do XP and feats just fine?

Mags, I don't think you meant this thread for SYM. Are you referring to NWN2? It's a little hard to tell from the content. Let me know, and I'll move it.

Woohoo! Thanks. I actually figured it out myself. Have to right click on your character, you should see in the top middle of the screen your characters portrait pop up. That targets your character, then you put in the code, and it works. Woohoo. Now it's time to run through the game at a breakneck pace and test out the crafting aspects of the game.
