no spells?

could anyone tell me why my 9th level wizard has no second level spells to learn. he has six slots open to use but no spells to choose from. thanx
Probably because you do not have any second level scrolls, from which you can learn spells.
Sorcerers are the ones that choose spells upon a level up, not wizards.
